where, R 1 represents hydrogen, fluorine, an alkyl group having 1 to 15 carbon atoms or an alkenyl group having 2 to 15 carbon atoms; each of rings A 1 , A 2 and A 3 independently represents trans -1,4-cyclohexylene group, 1,4-cyclohexenylene group, trans -1,4-silacyclohexylene group, 1,4-phenylene group, 2,3-difluoro-1,4-phenylene group, 2-fluoro-1,4-phenylene group, 3-fluoro-1,4-phenylene group, pyrimidine-2,5-diyl group, pyridine-2,5-diyl group, 1,3-dioxane-2,5-diyl group, tetrahydropyrane-2,5-diyl group, 1,3-dithiane-2,5-diyl group or tetrahydrothiopyrane-2,5-diyl group; X 1 represents hydrogen or fluorine; Y 1 represents hydrogen or an alkyl group having 1 to 15 carbon atoms, in which each of optional nonadjacent methylene groups (-CH 2 -) may be substituted by oxygen; 1 represents an integer from 0 to 10; in which each of optional nonadjacent methylene groups in (-CH 2 -) 1 may be substituted by oxygen; and each of m and n independently represents 0 or 1.

摘要： There is provided a new polysilazane product from a specific precursor. Desired molecular weight of the polysilazane can be obtained by selecting proper molar ratio of R₁SiHX₂ and R₂R₃SiX₂ as raw materials. The polysilazane is stable during storage without gelation. The polymerization of the precursor can be carried out without gelation even at a high temperature and hence can be completed in a short time. The polysilazane can be made into ceramics fiber by spinning from a solution and subsequent firing.

摘要： The invention is to provide liquid crystalline compounds which have a low viscosity, high negative dielectric anisotropy, high resistivity, and high voltage holding ratio, and are stable against heat and ultraviolet light; to provide liquid crystal compositions comprising the liquid crystalline compound; and to provide liquid crystal display devices using the liquid crystal composition therein; the liquid crystalline compound is expressed by the general formula (1) wherein R1 and Y1 represent an alkyl group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms one or more non-adjacent methylene groups in the alkyl group may be replaced by oxygen atom, sulfur atom, or vinylene group; X1, X2, and X3 independently represent single bond, 1,2-ethylene group, vinylene group, -COO-, provided that at least one of X1, X2, and X3 represents -COO-, and one of the remaining two bonding groups necessarily represents vinylene group; and wherein the rings A 1 to A 4 and m and n have the meanings as defined in claim 1.
