    • The invention relates to a cable joint, particularly a hood-type joint, for placing or handling optical waveguides in a structured manner, said optical waveguides being guided within optical waveguide cables. The cable joint comprises a covering member (11), especially a covering hood, which defines a interior space (12) and is provided with at least one sealing element (14) that can be introduced into an opening (13) of the covering member (11) and is used for introducing and/or bringing optical waveguide cables into/out of the interior space (12). A sealing area formed between an outer contour of the sealing element (14) and an inner contour of the covering member (11) is sealed by means of a sealing ring (15) which is disposed in a groove (16) that is introduced into the outer contour of the sealing element (14). The cable joint further comprises a clamping ring (17) which presses the inner contour of the covering member (11) against the outer contour of the sealing element (14) in the area of the opening (13). According to the invention, the covering member (11) only partially covers the groove (16) such that a projection (20) of the clamping ring (17) engages into the groove (16) and rests against the sealing ring (15) in such a way that the sealing ring (15) is deformed and is pressed against the groove (16) of the sealing element (14) and the inner contour of the covering member (11).
