摘要： A device for converting linear motion to rotary motion or vice versa employs at least two bearing members (52, 54) mounted for rotation about a crankpin (50) of a rotatable crank (44), each bearing member (52, 54) being in constant engagement with its own individual bearing surface (58, 60). A shuttle (16), which is mounted for reciprocating linear movement, carries the bearing surfaces (58, 60), which are located on opposite sides of the crankpin (50) and are offset relative to each other. Because the bearing members (52, 54) are in constant engagement with their associated bearing surfaces (58, 60), the linear motion of the shuttle (16) is continuously converted into the rotary motion of the crank (44) or vice versa.

A motion arrester (170a, 170b) functions to arrest the motion of the conjugate driver as it reaches each of its end points of travel relative to the bearing conjugate. The conjugate driver (154) has a tracking profile (166) which is in continuous conjugating engagement with a trackable profile (162) provided on the bearing conjugate (148) and having the same circumferential length as the tracking profile (166) of the conjugate driver (154).

摘要： A device for translating rotary to linear motion and vice versa includes a reciprocating linearly moving shuttle (34) with a central aperture (41). The aperture (41) has a pair of opposing gear racks (46, 48) protruding towards the center and which capture therebetween a pair of pinion sectors (52, 54) rotatably mounted to the crankpin (42) of a rotatable crankshaft (44) with the axis of crankshaft rotation perpendicular to the linear path of the shuttle (34). The pinion sectors (52, 54) are free to rotate about the crankpin (42) and articulate independently of each other through a selected angular range. When the crankpin (42), including the pinion sectors (52, 54), is inserted into the aperture (41) of the shuttle (34) with the pinion sectors (52, 54) engaging the racks (46, 48), motion is transferable between the crankpin (42) and the shuttle (34) through the pinion sectors (52, 54).

摘要： A method of creating a conjugated surface for use in a motion conversion device for converting linear motion into circular motion or vice versa through the use of an axially movable conjugate-driver moving laterally with respect to a conjugate-bearing, the conjugated surface being on the conjugate-bearing. The method includes the steps of creating a motion curve (310) corresponding to the circular motion from the frame of reference of the lateral motion, iteratively rotating the conjugate surface along the motion curve, and measuring a conjugated curve comprising the points of the conjugate surface farthest from a line joining the two endpoints (335) of the motion curve during the course of the rotations. The conjugated surface is created according to the conjugated curve.

摘要： A motion converter (10) employs a shuttle (34) movable in a reciprocating fashion along a rectilinear path and having an aperture (42) therein. One side of the aperture (42) is defined by a first trackable profile (58) and an opposite side of the aperture (42) is defined by a second trackable profile (60). A pair of conjugate drivers (54, 56) is rotatably mounted on a crank pin (44) positioned within the aperture (42) of the shuttle (34). The conjugate drivers (54, 56) have tracking profiles (62, 64) which are in continuous conjugating engagement with the trackable profiles (58, 60) of the shuttle (34). Each of the tracking profiles (62, 64) has the same circumferential length as its corresponding trackable profile (58, 60).
