    • A method of operating a gaming system (200) including a plurality of gaming machines (502, 504, 506) and at least one server system (508). The method includes providing at least a first gaming service (512, 514, 516) to each gaming machine (502, 504, 506) by way of one or more first software processes and providing at least one second service (518) common to a subset of the plurality of gaming machines (502, 504, 506), the second service (518) implemented by one or more second software processes. The method also includes enabling interprocess interaction between at least one software process of the first service (512, 514, 516) and at least one software process of the second service (518) to enable interaction between the services. A server system, gaming machine and gaming system is also disclosed.

    • In one form there is disclosed a method (500) of triggering an event in an gaming machine network (200) including a plurality of gaming machines (202). The method includes defining at least one first level trigger event which can be associated with at least one of the plurality of gaming machines(202) and in the event that a first level trigger event occurs, triggering a first level event in relation to each associated gaming machine (202). The method also includes defining a second level triggering event which is dependent upon the occurrence of a plurality of first level events, each of the plurality of first level events being associated with one or more of the plurality of gaming machines (202). In the event that the second level triggering event occurs, triggering the second level event.
