    • An improved clip or clamp (100) is provided having a one-piece wire-form construction that is suited for rapid and repeatable manufacture. The clamp, which may be disposable or reusable, includes a first jaw portion (102), a second jaw portion (104), a first handle portion (108), a second handle portion (110) and a central coil or tensioning device (106), all of which are formed from a single piece of wire. The central coil or tensioning device comprises one or more turns. The handle portions may include ring-shaped distal ends (108a, 110a) that further enhance grip. The jaw portions may be shaped, curved, bent or otherwise configured to provide access to specific areas of a procedure. The clamp may be coated with a material providing improved traction and padding.

    • A surgical clip assembly (100) is provided having two molded components and a tension spring. The spring clip includes a first molded portion (110) having a first jaw (112) and a first finger tab (114), a second molded portion (120) coupled to the first molded portion (110) and having a second jaw (122) and a second finger tab (124), and a tension spring (130) coupled to both the first and second molded portions (110, 120). The first and second molded portions (110, 120) may be identical components and are moveable by operation of the first and second finger tabs (114, 124) between a generally closed position and a generally open position. The finger tabs (114, 124) may include cavities or grooves (115, 125) to facilitate engagement with a user or the jaws of a clip applier. The jaws may be shaped, curved or bent to provide access to specific areas of a procedure. Each of the jaws can be provided with an insert (150) to further reduce trauma and increase traction with a target body conduit.

    • A method for manufacturing a kink-resistant tube having drainage holes is provided. A wire is coated with plastic material and wound around a mandrel forming a plurality of windings. The wound coated wire is heated until the plastic coating material melts and bonds the wire windings to form a wire-reinforced sheath having wire-containing sections and non-wire containing sections. Alternatively, a coated or non-coated wire is wound around a mandrel together with separate polymer filament material and then heated. A filament having an elongated cross-section may be employed with the major axis of the elongated cross-section substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the sheath. At least one non-wire containing section is identified by passing light through at least one wall of the wire-reinforced sheath. Image capture and analysis via an optical system and microprocessor automatically identify regions to target a drill for forming holes in the non-wire containing sections.
