In order to provide alternative materials for valve members, it is proposed according to the invention that the valve member is made of plastic material filled with mineral particles in an amount between 1 % and 60 % by weight. It has been surprisingly found that valve members made of plastic filled with mineral particles in these amounts show improved properties, such as strength and abrasion rates, compared to non-filled plastics and compared to glass-filled plastics.
