    • A cylinder head (3) includes a lifter guide boss part (12), a concave relief groove portion (13) and a guide portion (14, 14'). The lifter guide boss part (12) defines a lifter bore (12a) arranged to slidably support a valve lifter (9). The concave relief groove portion (13) has a predetermined width and a predetermined depth formed on the lifter guide boss part (12) in a position corresponding to a rotation direction of a cam (8) to avoid an interference between the cam (8) and the lifter guide boss part (12). The relief groove portion (13) includes a pair of groove side surfaces (13c) and a groove bottom surface (13b) with a pair of corner sections (13a) being formed between the groove bottom surface (13b) and the side groove surfaces (13c). The guide portion (14, 14') protrudes from the groove bottom surface (13b) in a sliding direction of the valve lifter (9) to slidably guide the valve lifter (9). The guide portion (14, 14') is spaced apart from the corner sections (13a) of the relief groove portion (13).

    • A blow-by gas recirculation structure includes a cylinder head (3) including an intake manifold mounting surface (3d) and a cylinder block mounting surface (3e) with a first intake passage (21A) extending between a first intake opening formed in the intake manifold mounting surface (3d) and a first intake port (10) formed in the cylinder block mounting surface (3e), and a second intake passage (21B) extending between a second intake opening formed in the intake manifold mounting surface (3d) and a second intake port (10) formed in the cylinder block mounting surface (3e). The cylinder head (3) further includes at least one blow-by gas passage (22) for recirculating blow-by gas to the first intake passage (21A). The intake manifold mounting surface (3d) has at least one enlarged recess (25a) fluidly connected between the blow-by gas passage (22) and the first intake passage (21A), the enlarged recess (25a) being disposed between the first and second intake openings and at least partially aligned with centers of the first and second intake openings.
