摘要： The invention aims to optimise the handling characteristics of a rotating surgical instrument, used to create a cavity in bone material. This is achieved by an ultrasonic transducer which is located in said instrument and which can transmit and receive ultrasonic waves. The ultrasonic transducer can be connected to an ultrasonic generator and to a receiving device which generates signals, according to the intensity of the ultrasonic radiation received by the ultrasonic transducer and according to the time period between emission of the ultrasonic radiation and the reception of reflected ultrasonic radiation. Said signals provide measurements for determining the characteristics of the bone material in the direction of the radiation emission.

摘要： The invention relates to an implant for vertebral body fusion which has a supporting body insertable in the gap between the two adjacent vertebral bodies and having two opposing support surfaces for resting on the opposing end surfaces of the vertebral bodies to be fused. To achieve optimum fixing of the supporting body in the intervertebral space, the invention proposes that the supporting body have at least one receiving duct extending between the support surfaces, the upper and lower surface of said duct being open. It also proposes that a fixing member guided in the receiving duct to be rotatable about the longitudinal axis thereof and provided with an external projection be introduced into the receiving duct, said fixing member projecting, when inserted into the receiving duct, from the open receiving duct to project across the support surfaces at the upper surface and the lower surface of the supporting body.

The inventive implant comprises at least two bearing elements (24, 26) for each spiny process (14, 16), for applying and/or fixing the implant to one or two spiny processes of adjacent vertebrae of the spinal column. The aim of the invention is to improve one such implant in such a way that, as far as possible, only one operation is required for the adjustment and pressure alleviation of an intervertebral space. To this end, the implant (10) is produced from a biocompatible, resorbable material. The invention also relates to a method for the adjustment and pressure alleviation of an intervertebral space in a human or animal spinal column.
