摘要： A system and method for controlling oxidation of sulfites in a slurry. The system includes a tank having an inlet for receiving a slurry used in wet flue gas desulfurization. The tank also includes an inlet for receiving a gas. The inlet for receiving the gas is configured so that at least a portion of the gas received in the tank is dispersed through at least a portion of the slurry received in the tank. A sensor is configured to measure a sulfite concentration S 1 of the slurry received in the tank. In some embodiments, the sensor is a sulfite analyzer. In other embodiments, the sensor is a virtual analyzer. The system includes a controller. Software executing on the controller generates a signal indicative of an adjustment of a flow rate of gas into the tank based at least in part on the sulfite concentration S 1 .

摘要： An apparatus and method for producing a catalyst rich seawater useful to catalyze oxidation reactions in a flue gas desulphurization system (28) seawater aeration basin (56) to obtain a treated seawater. In a catalyst unit (80), catalysts are leached from ash, which has been collected from flue gas, into an acidic liquid, which may be effluent seawater collected from a seawater based flue gas desulphurization system absorber. The resulting catalyst-rich seawater is supplied from the catalyst unit (80) to the seawater aeration basin (56) which also receives effluent seawater from the flue gas desulphurization system (28). Using the catalyst-rich seawater reduces the oxgen demand in the oxidation of bisulphite and sulphite to sulphate. The thus treated seawater from the aeration basin (56) is neutralised using limestone in neutralization basin (70) or diluted with fresh ocean seawater.

摘要： A method for reducing mercury emission and/or re-emission in cleaned flue gas through control of sulfite concentration within a wet flue gas desulfurization (WFGD) system (18) is disclosed. One method for reducing mercury emission and/or re-emission through control of sulfite concentration is to measure the sulfite concentration of an aqueous alkaline slurry (24) used in a WFGD system (18) and comparing the same to a predetermined sulfite concentration value. If the comparison reveals the measured sulfite concentration is above the predetermined values, the amount of oxidation air supplied to the system (18) is increased. If the comparison reveals the measured sulfite concentration is below the predetermined values, the amount of oxidation air supplied to the system (18) is decreased.
