    • The invention relates to a method for optimizing delivery of content in a telecommunication network wherein said content is delivered to a user connected to said telecommunication network via a set of cache servers (LS1,LS2). The method includes a step of a placement server (S) also connected to said telecommunication network calculating a first value and a second value of a cost function that reflects a cost for transmittting said content to said user via respectively a first cache server (LS1) of said set and via a second cache server (LS2) of said set and the cost for storing it there. The cost function takes into account at least one variable of a list of variables, said variables being related to either one of available network resources, local content popularity, network structure, local server storage capacity, format in which said cache servers can store said content. The method also including the steps of comparing said first value and said second value and of triggering said first cache server (LS1) to transmit said content to said second cache server (LS2) if said second value is smaller than said first value. In an alternative, the method minimizes the cost function and deduces therefrom what cache serves should store the content.

    • According to an embodiment the disclosure relates to a networking device (100) for scheduling the transmission of packets over a network interface (130). The device comprises a plurality of queues (120-125) for temporally buffering these packets. The queues comprises a deadline aware queue (125) for queueing data packets belonging to data flows with hard deadline requirements and one or more non-deadline aware queues (120-124) for queueing data packets belonging to data flows without hard deadline requirements. The device also comprises a dynamic weighted fair-queue scheduler (150) for retrieving the packets from the queues. A weight for the deadline aware queue is then based on a minimum rate requirement for the queue in order to meet the hard deadline requirements. The device also comprises a forwarding module (110) for forwarding the packets to the queues.

    • The present invention relates to a network unit adapted to transmit a video channel (Chx) to be played at a nominal motion speed (a), which network unit comprising:
      - a signaling means (104) adapted to receive a request (Join_Chx) from a decoding device (200) whereby transmission of the video channel is requested,
      - a video transmitting means (112) adapted thereupon to transmit the video channel towards the decoding device, initially as a dedicated multimedia stream (uC_Chx) dedicatedly supplied to the decoding device and comprising an independent video frame (I) as first transmitted video frame, and further in time as a common multimedia stream (MC_Chx) commonly supplied to a plurality of decoding devices (200, 220).
      A network unit according to the invention is characterized in that the video transmitting means is further adapted to transmit the video channel within the dedicated multimedia stream ahead of time with respect to transmission of the video channel within the common multimedia stream, and in that the video channel is to be initially played at an averagely slower motion speed (β, β', β", β"'), thereby allowing transmission of the video channel to be resumed with the common multimedia stream.
      The present invention also relates to a decoding device, to a method for transmitting a video channel, and to a method for receiving and playing that video video channel.
