    • A method and system for protecting an electricity network against restriking earth faults, which electricity network comprises one or more feeders (F1 and F2) going out from a supply point (S) and is preferably a three-phase (L1, L2 and L3) network, the method comprising the steps of: detecting an earth contact related to an earth fault in the electricity network, identifying the feeder (F2) on which the earth contact occurs by means of current pulses or current pulses and voltage values related to the earth contact, a current value being interpreted as a current pulse at the moment the instantaneous value of the current divided by the effective value of the current exceeds a predetermined limit, whereby the number of detected earth contacts is calculated per each feeder (F1 and F2), and it is identified that there is a restriking earth fault on the feeder (F1 or F2) if the number of the detected earth contacts per said feeder exceeds a predetermined number during a predetermined period, or if the number of the detected earth contacts per said feeder exceeds a predetermined number while the voltage between the star point of the electricity network and the earth, i.e. the zero voltage, remains above a predetermined limit.

    • A method for detecting a faulted feeder in an earth fault situation in an electricity distribution network, the electricity distribution network being multiphased (L1, L2 and L3) and comprising at least one supply point (HV/MV) having at least two feeders, the method comprising the steps of measuring voltage between a star point of the electricity distribution network and earth, i.e. zero voltage or a variable in a known phase shift therewith, measuring feeder-specifically a sum current (Σ|1, Σ|2) of feeder phases, i.e. zero current, comparing feeder-specifically a phase angle of the feeder zero current (Σ|1, Σ|2) with a phase angle of zero voltage or of a variable in a known phase shift therewith, detecting a feeder faulted if the phase angle of the feeder zero current (Σ|1, Σ|2) is within a given predetermined range when compared with zero voltage or the phase angle of the variable in a known phase shift therewith, whereby said predetermined range substantially exceeds 180° and the same predetermined range can be used for detecting a faulted feeder at least in two of the following alternative star point treatment methods in an electricity distribution network: a network isolated from earth, a network earthed via resistance at the star point, a network provided with an arc-suppression coil of earth-fault current or a combination of the two previous ones.
