摘要： A manifold head is provided for a column in which fluid is conditioned by flow through a conditioning component, the column including the manifold head and an elongate container for the conditioning component, in use the manifold head being sealingly assembled to an end of the container. The manifold head has an external wall, an inlet port for incoming flow of fluid into the column, an outlet port for outgoing flow of fluid out of the column, and an internal flow guidance formation for guiding the incoming flow to the conditioning component and for guiding the outgoing flow from the conditioning component. The flow guidance formation further maintains separation of the incoming and outgoing flows within the column en route to and from the conditioning component. The external wall and the internal flow guidance formation of the manifold head are constituent parts of a unitary extruded body section. The extruded body section has radially spaced and substantially tubular outer and inner walls which are bridged by a bridging portion, the inner wall forming a central bore, the outer wall forming the external wall of the manifold head, and the inner wall and the bridgi g portion froming the internal flow guidance formation.

摘要： A filter assembly is provided for collecting material that is entrained in a fluid stream. The assembly includes a removable filter element having a tubular filter through which, in use, the fluid stream flows, and an end cap providing a flow conduit which extends between a first conduit opening and a second conduit opening communicating with the internal void of the tubular filter, the axis of the first conduit opening being at an angle to the axis of the tubular filter. The assembly further includes a housing for the filter element, the housing having inlet and outlet ports for the fluid stream, a housing bowl in which the tubular filter is located, and a housing head which provides at least one of the ports as a docking port for the first conduit opening. The housing head and the end cap are arranged such that the end cap is inserted into the housing head, and then rotated relative to the housing head about an axis perpendicular to the axis of the tubular filter and to the axis of the first conduit opening to bring the first conduit opening and the docking port into sealed communication.

摘要： A method of producing a filter unit, such as an air/oil separator, having a tubular filter element bonded at one end to an end cap, is proposed. The method comprises: providing a tubular filter element and an end cap; melting a portion of the end cap; and embedding an end of the filter element into the melted portion of the end cap. The melted portion, on cooling, solidifies to bond the tubular filter element to the end cap. The end cap can be formed of thermoplastic containing an electrically conductive filler. The end cap can be formed of a thermoplastic having a melting point of at least 180 °C. The method may further comprise, after the embedding step, a step of forcing melted thermoplastic from the melted portion radially against a side wall of the tubular filter element.
