    • A power-saving apparatus and a power-saving method are disclosed for electronic device. A power-saving program is stored in the electronic device and is activated to a detecting and stand-by scanning state when the electronic device is turned on. The power-saving program detects the operation of an input unit with reference to a preset time parameter. The power-saving program detects an input operation of the input unit. The corresponding function for the input operation is performed and the power-saving program judges whether the input operation is a normal operation. The power-saving program performs a power-saving procedure to turn off power from the electronic device when the input operation is judged to be abnormal.

    • A method manages power on/off procedure of an electronic device with security mechanism. A user input setting is established to perform power on/off procedure and to provide security mechanism for the electronic device. The electronic device in first-time use is powered on to a stand-by state with a default power on procedure and then in user input setting state. The input unit of the electronic device is operated to set the user input setting, which can be provided by input element or the composition of input elements of the input unit. The electronic device can be successfully powered on or off by operating the already-set user input setting.

    • An automatic protection apparatus for an unattended computer includes a transmitter and a receiver for wireless transmission. The receiver is plugged in an output port of the computer host to receive the wireless electromagnetic wave or optical wave signal transmitted from the transmitter, while the transmitter uses a specific low power to generate and transmit such wireless signal. Therefore, the receiver can receive the wireless signal within a short distance range. The transmitter is carried by a user. When the transmitter is remote from the receiver by a distance exceeding the distance range, the receiver is operative to generate a control signal to the computer automatically, so as to force the computer into a specific protection status (such as shutdown, standby, sleep mode or screen saver activation).
