    • A diverter valve for a faucet directs water to either the faucet spout (11) or a spray nozzle. The faucet assembly of the present invention includes a shuttle chamber (26) from which water may be supplied to either of two outlet paths. A poppet valve (20) selectively enables water flow from the shuttle chamber to the outlet path leading to the faucet spout whenever the water pressure in the outlet path (18) leading to the spray nozzle is greater than or equal to the pressure in the shuttle chamber. When the spray nozzle is activated, pressure in the outlet path leading to the nozzle is relieved and the poppet valve closes off the outlet path leading to the faucet spout. A bypass channel (32) is provided between the shuttle chamber and the outlet path leading to the spray nozzle, allowing water to flow through the nozzle while it is activated. A precision sized orifice (31) in the bypass channel maintains the pressure differential acting on the poppet valve so that flow to the faucet spout remains cut off while the spray nozzle is activated.

    • A fluid valve includes a valve body having a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet. A valve seat is formed from the valve body between the fluid inlet and fluid outlet for the passage of fluid therebetween. A movable valve member formed from non-resilient, preferably ceramic, material is positioned in the valve body between the valve seat and the fluid outlet for controlling the flow of fluid through the valve seat. The valve member is axially movable relative to the valve seat, with the quantity of fluid flowing through the seat to the fluid outlet being directly proportional to the distance between the valve member and the valve seat.

    • In a vandal resistant push-pull drain stopper for use with a drain plug (44) of a bath or other similar vessel, there is provided a plunger (46) having an inner cylindrical bore, a stem (10) having a reduced portion (24), an expanded portion (55) and a channelled portion (16), an O-ring (18) snugly nestled between the plunger (46) and the stem (10); a cap (34) threadably engaged with the plunger (46) and axially disposed about the upper region of the stem (10) the cap (34) having a relief (A) inside the hexagonal bore (B) portion thereof so that the plunger (46) freely rotates about the cap (34) by discouraging removal of the cap (34) from the drain plunger (46); the plunger (46) having a seal (38) so that when the plunger (46) is in a closed position the seal (38) abuts with the outer periphery of the drain plug (44) thereby sealing the same. The reduced (24) expanded (55) and channelled (16) portions of the stem (10) permit the drain plug (44) to be open and closed by user and provide tactile "snap in place feel" in the open and close positions while employing only, essentially, two moving parts.

    • An inlet water line connector (25) for connecting an inlet water line (11) to the end of a water faucet shank (13) having external threads (14) on the outer cylindrical surface thereof. The body (26, 28) has an opening therethrough into the first end of which an inlet water tube (11) of a predetermined outer diameter may be inserted. The body (26, 28) has an outer tapered surface (37) for fitting within and engaging a tapered internal inlet region (15) of the faucet shank (13). The outer tapered surface (37) of the body (26, 28) has a forced fit with the tapered internal inlet region (15) of the faucet shank (13). A retention member (30) is disposed within the body (26, 28) and has a relaxed state and a holding state. The retention element (30) remains in its relaxed state as the water line (11) is inserted through the body (26, 28) whereby it is in spaced relation to the water line (11). The retention element (30) is moved into its holding state after the water line (11) has been inserted through the body (26, 28) to place the retention element (30) into intimate contact with the water line (11).
