    • A process heat recovery system (1) wherein a heat exchanger (2) of shell- and-tube type works either as a boiler or as a boiler feedwater preheater, with boiler water or boiler feedwater circulating on shell-side, so as to cool a hot process fluid circulating on tube-side. The heat exchanger (2) is connected to a steam drum (3) by downcomer piping (12) and riser piping (14) for water circulation between the heat exchanger (2) and the steam drum (3). The heat exchanger (2) receives either the boiler water from the steam drum (3) by the downcomer piping (12), when the heat exchanger (2) works as a boiler, or the boiler feedwater by a boiler feedwater piping (27), when the heat exchanger (2) works as a boiler feedwater preheater. The heat exchanger (2) delivers by the riser piping (14) to the steam drum (3) either boiler water, when the heat exchanger (2) works as a boiler, or preheated boiler feedwater, when the heat exchanger (2) works as a boiler feedwater preheater. The heat exchanger (2) is provided with shell-side plates or baffles (29) for imparting prevailing flow directions to circulating water so that, when the heat exchanger (2) works as a boiler, the shell-side water flow, crosswise the tubes, has a prevailing vertical direction, whereas, when the heat exchanger (2) works as a boiler feedwater preheater, the shell-side water flow, crosswise the tubes, has a prevailing horizontal direction.

    • A sealing device (10) for bores, in particular bores (12) obtained on a header portion (14) of a heat exchanger, the sealing device (10) comprising: at least one bolt-type plug (16), which is provided with a head (18) and with a substantially cylindrical shank (20), wherein the shank (20) has a threaded cylindrical surface (22) which is substantially parallel to a central rotation axis (A) of the plug (16) and wherein the plug (16) is designed to be inserted into a corresponding bore (12) in a threaded coupling; and at least one annular gasket (24), which is provided with a central through hole (26) having a predefined internal diameter (B), wherein the gasket (24) is designed to be axially inserted around the shank (20) to make seal between the head (18) of the plug (16) and the bore (12). The seat (28) comprises: a radial annular contact surface (30) which is substantially flat in the radial direction, which is obtained on a portion of the head (18) facing the shank (20) and which is substantially perpendicular to the central rotation axis (A), wherein the radial annular contact surface (30) is designed to be in contact with a radially oriented annular contact portion (32) of the gasket (24); and an axial annular contact surface (34) which is substantially flat in the axial direction, which is obtained on a root portion of the shank (20) at the radial annular contact surface (30) and which is substantially parallel to the central rotation axis (A), wherein the axial annular contact surface (34) has an internal diameter (C) which is substantially equal to the internal diameter (B) of the central through hole (26) of the gasket (24), and wherein the axial annular contact surface (34) is designed to form an axial centering shoulder for the gasket (24).     • A shell-and-tube heat exchanger comprises a shell enclosing a plurality of U-shaped tubes. Each tube is provided with a first portion and with a second portion that are hydraulically connected by a U-bend. The open ends of each tube are connected to a tube-sheet and the tubes are vertically arranged and disposed downward with respect to the tube-sheet. The shell is provided with at least an inlet nozzle for inletting a first fluid and with at least an outlet nozzle for outletting the first fluid. A pressure chamber is connected to the tube-sheet on the opposite side of the shell and above the shell. The pressure chamber is provided with a plurality of nozzles for inletting and outletting at least a second fluid that flows under natural circulation within the tubes, to indirectly perform a heat exchange with the first fluid, and that vaporizes during the heat exchange. The pressure chamber contains a guiding jacket that, at a first end thereof, is sealingly joined to the tube-sheet or the first tube portions and, at a second end thereof that is opposite to the first end, is open. The guiding jacket splits the pressure chamber into a first section, that is enclosed by the guiding jacket and is in communication with the first tube portions, and a second section, that is in communication with the second tube portions. The first section and the second section are in communication each other by means of the open end of the guiding jacket. The first section is provided with a liquid level, located below the open end, and therefore with a vapour chamber, located above the liquid level.

    • An apparatus (10) for assembling concentric spiral coils for exchangers comprises a support zone (11) which is intended to receive the spiral coils arranged concentrically on top of each other and an insertion device (12) which inserts one at a time the spiral coils towards the support zone (11). Motorized roller means (13) cause the axial peripheral rotation of the spiral coil during insertion thereof into the support zone (11) such as to obtain a combined screwing movement within the support zone and above the spiral coils already inserted into the support zone. A vibration may be applied during insertion in order to facilitate the operation.
