摘要： Color coded signals (36, 37) are superimposed upon one another in order to more conveniently understand phenomenon to which the signals relate. A specific application of the technique is non-destructive eddy-current testing of tubes (11) used in devices such as nuclear reactors for detecting anomalies such as pits (14, 16), through-holes (12) and dents (18). The signals generated during the eddy tests are displayed (40) as overlapping lissajous transforms which produce distinctive color patterns for each anomaly.

摘要： The prior art of multifrequency eddy current instruments has required a band pass filter to separate each individual frequency. The drawback of the above mentioned method is the requirement to change the bandpass filter if the inspection frequency is changed. This invention relates to a design that eliminates the requirement for a bandpass filter. The aggregate of inspection frequencies are applied to linear multipliers which shift the information from one of the inspection frequencies to a base band signal. The information is then separated from the signals of other frequencies with a low pass filter. The advantage is that an inspection frequency may be changed by changing the oscillator frequency only.

摘要： Ferromagnetic pipes and tubes are inspected for flaws by inserting probes having a near field sensor comprising at least one send coil (50) and at least one receive coil (52) which are located directly adjacent one another. According to various configurations, the send and receive coils (50,52) are of the same or different diameters or are positioned axially adjacent one another. Configurations of the near field sensor include arrangements wherein there are pluralities of send coils (50) as well as pluralities of receive coils (52). The near field sensor is in one embodiment in combination with remote field sensor coils and in another embodiment in combination with a remote field sensor and a remote field receive coil.
