    • A tracer is provided for tracing a lens mount of an eyeglass frame, a lens or a lens pattern. The tracer comprises an object engager and an actuator. The object engager is adapted to engage the lens mount, the lens or the lens pattern. The actuator is adapted to move the object engager into contact with and then along the lens mount, the lens or the lens pattern in such a way that during movement therealong, the object engager remains against the object being traced even when the shape thereof includes high wrap. Preferably, the tracer has a shift mechanism adapted to shift the object engager from alignment with the lens mount to alignment with a second lens mount of the eyeglass frame. The actuator preferably is further adapted to trace the second lens mount in substantially the same way as the first. The actuator further includes a rotator and a pivot mechanism. The rotator is adapted to rotate the object engager along the object being traced. The pivot mechanism facilitates movement of the object engager toward or away from the axis as the object engager is actuated along the object. The object engager can extend or retract along the pivot mechanism. A clamp for the tracer and an object engager also are provided.

    • The present invention is directed to a tray handler for stacking and de-stacking ophthalmic prescription trays. The tray handler includes a plurality of spaced clamp assemblies (22,24,28,30) defining a stack area along a conveyor (10), a lift plate (54), and first and second actuators. The lift plate is operably disposed within the stack area. The first actuator is operably associated with the clamp assemblies, which are inwardly and outwardly moveable relative the lift plate upon actuation of the first actuator. The second actuator is operably associated with the lift plate, which is vertically moveable within the stack area upon actuation of the second actuator. A controller is in communication with the first and second actuators and controls actuation thereof. A method of handling ophthalmic prescription trays is also disclosed.

    • A lens drilling device for drilling a hole into a lens held by a lens retaining system, comprising a base; a pivoting drill support arm, whereby the pivoting drill support arm is adapted to pivot from a retracted position where the drill is pivoted away from a working area to an extended position where the drill is positioned to act on said lens at a suitable angle to be normal to the lens surface. A motor is mounted to the pivoting drill support arm to drive a drill mounted to the pivoting drill support arm remote from the motor. The drill is substantially stationary when performing a drilling procedure in the extended position. In a preferred embodiment, the drill mechanism is a modular unit that bolts onto an edger machine to provide a streamlined state of the art patternless edger with drilling capability.
