    • A HVAC system automates the process of calibrating the individual branch flows of the system. For each branch of the system, a damper is closed and flow values at the output of the prime mover and at the input of the damper are measured. The damper is then opened 50% and again flow values at the output of the prime mover and at the input of the damper are measured. A flow coefficient, which correlates the flow difference measured at the output of the prime mover with the flow difference measured at the input of the damper, is then determined. The flow through each damper of each branch is calibrated in this manner, resulting in an overall balancing of the HVAC system. The automated process of branch flow calibration eliminates the tedious and time consuming process of both manual steps of measuring the branch flows and determining the flow coefficients as was performed in the prior art.

    • A global control system is implemented in a heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) distribution system. The system allows local controllers and a source controller to exchange data between one another so that optimization of control for a local component is not sacrificed for optimization of control for a source component, and vice versa. The controllers have their control process sudivided into an identification process and a control process. The identification process periodically identifies characteristics related to the component to be controlled. The control process continuously generates a control signal to be applied to the component to control the component. The control process is further subdivided into a feedforward process and a feedback process. The feedforward process utilizes the identified characteristics to generate a control signal based on calculated system variables, while the feedback generates a control signal based on measured system variables. The two control signals are then combined to control the component. The combination of the control signals produces a more accurate control signal since the effects of noise related to the measured system variables are mitigated by the combination of control signals.

    • The building automation control system of the present invention includes a supervisory control station for monitoring and controlling process information (control points) from at least one environmental control device. The supervisory control station is provided with a memory for storing data, including a dynamic link library (DLL) containing: first data for displaying a plurality of independently selectable graphic objects, and link data specifying an association between a selected graphic object and the control point. The supervisory control station dynamically displays the received real-time process state information for the associated control point using stored state table data, link data, and run time values from the environmental control device.
