    • In an arrangement in a tool (1) for driving a fastener (2), such as a staple, into an object (3) by means of a driver actuating the fastener, said driver being connected to a bar-shaped spring (10) and being reciprocable for bending and thus tensioning the spring about a support in a tensioning stroke and for driving the fastener (2) into the object (3) in a striking stroke generated by the tensional force of the spring (10), the support comprises a substantially continuous elongate surface extending in the longitudinal direction of the spring (10). This surface is designed and positioned such that, when the spring is being bent about the support, the abutment surface of the spring (10) against the support successively increases during the tensioning stroke of the driver (6).

    • A cassette (10a, 10b, 11), which contains juxtaposed wire staple blanks releasably interconnected to form at least one strip (8) of staple blanks, is adapted to be used in a stapler for driving staples into an object, such as a sheaf of papers. The stapler comprises a base and a stapler head movable in relation to the base. The cassette accommodates a reciprocating staple shaper (20), adapted to successively shape the staple blanks of the strip (8) into U-shaped staples, and a reciprocating staple driver (19), adapted to successively release the thus-formed staples from the strip (8) and drive them into an object. The cassette has a front wall (11) in which the staple shaper (20) and the staple driver (19) are displaceably guided, as well as recesses through which projections on the staple shaper and the staple driver project, so as to engage, when the cassette is mounted in the stapler head, a drive mechanism (4) arranged in the stapler head to reciprocate the staple shaper and the staple driver.

    • An electric tool for driving in fixing elements (10) into an object (4) by means of a magnetic field generated by supplying magnetising current to an electromagnetic device, comprises a circuit means (17) which is adapted, when activated, to supply magnetising current to said electromagnetic device. The tool comprises two actuators (18, 19) alternatively connectible to the circuit means (17) and adapted, when actuated, to activate the circuit means, one (18) of the actuators being an actuator which is activatable in a potential-free mode and which is, in an initial position, unconnected to the circuit means, and the other (19) of the actuators being connected to the circuit means in the initial position. An activating means (25) is connectible to an actuator (18') which is activatable in a potential-free mode and included in a subsequent, similar tool, said activating means being adapted to be actuated by the circuit means (17) to produce, with a time delay after the actuation of said circuit means, a potential-free signal for actuation of said actuator (18') which is activatable in a potential-free mode and included in the subsequent tool. The actuator (18) which is activatable in a potential-free mode, is activatable by an activating means connected thereto, such as the activating means (25'') of a preceding similar tool, so as to activate the circuit means (17) after being connected thereto.

    • A stapler comprises a stapler head (12) which accommodates a strip of wire staple blanks and is pivotable between a starting position and a working position, in which it is applied against a sheaf of papers (14). A staple shaper (20) shapes the blanks into substantially U-shaped staples, and a staple driver (21) releases the thus-formed staples from the strip and drives them one by one into the sheaf of papers (14). A pivotable operating means (15) reciprocates the staple shaper (20) and the staple driver (21). A drive means (22-26) is adapted to pivot the operating means (15) in such a manner that it causes the staple driver (21) to drive a staple into the sheaf of papers (14) in a driving stroke and causes the staple shaper (20) to shape the following staple in a shaping stroke, as well as adapted to pivot the stapler head (12) to its working position before the staple driver (21) performs the driving stroke and retain it there during the driving stroke of the staple driver. The drive means (22-26) synchronises the pivotal movements of the stapler head (12) and the operating means (15) in such a manner that the staple driver (21) performs a prolonged stroke in the driving direction and the staple shaper (20) performs the last phase of the shaping stroke when the stapler head (12) has left its working position in order to be pivoted back to its starting position.
