    • The invention relates to a perfected refrigerator with two compartments, one for frozen food and one for cold food, capable of withstanding working loads of considerable intensity in the freezer compartment without however, harming the foods or drinks in the cold food compartment. This result is achieved by inserting into the cold food compartment one or more elements which are capable of storing heat or cold in predetermined period of operation and of yielding them up in other periods of operation. In particular it deals with the provision of a heat storage element in the cold food compartment of the refrigerator which may be constituted for example by a tank of pure water (or of a solution with a freezing point slightly above 6° C, which is placed in the coldest zone in this compartment (just below the evaporator). Thus, during normal operation, the water in the tank remains in the liquid state while under conditions of operation with the compressor continuously activated, as occurs during rapid freezing, if the temperature within the cold food compartment tends to fall below zero (such as would harm some foods contained therein) the mass of water contained in the said tank introduces an obstacle to this lowering of the temperature. Indeed before the temperature in the compartment can fall below zero, the refrigerator must take all the latent heat of freezing from the water in the tank which is necessary to transform it into ice and hence this mass of water, if of suitable size, prevents the temperature in the compartment from falling below zero before the freezing operation of the food just introduced is ended.

    • A dryer apparatus comprising an enclosure (10) which contains a drying chamber (12) for receiving articles, such as clothes (64), to be dried, an air heating passage (33) and an air cooling passage (26). Air heating means (36) are provided in the heating passage (33), to heat air flowing therethrough. The cooling passage (26) is situated beside the drying chamber (12) and has inlet means which are situated at the top of both the drying chamber (12) and the cooling passage (27), and outlet means at the bottom of the cooling passage, which outlet means communicate with the heating passage (33) near the inlet means thereof. Air cooling means (40) are provided in the cooling passage (27) to condense moisture from air flowing downwardly therein. Water collecting or draining means (48) are provided underneath the outlet means of the cooling passage to collect water dripping from the cooling means (40). The arrangement is such that a major air flow is circulated by natural convection between the drying chamber (12) and the heating passage (33), and a minor air flow is circulated by natural convection from the drying chamber (12) to the heating passage through the cooling passage.

    • The present invention relates to a refrigerator fitted with water heating means for collecting the heat dissipated on the condenser of the said appliance as well as means for transferring the heated water to a cistern of a normal electric water-heater.
      The said collecting means consist of a coil-shaped part of the condenser itself and a storage tank full of water containing the said coil-shaped part of the condenser. The transfer means consist of two water pipes, one supply and one pick-up, between the storage tank and cistern, a "T" fitting for connecting the storage tank and cistern pick-up pipes to the hot water pipe and a water flow regulating valve for only allowing water to flow into the storage tank from the cistern and not from the water mains supply pipe, so as to prevent sharp changes in temperature on the condenser which could impair operation of the appliance as well as to prevent cold water from getting into the hot water outlet pipe. The energy collected on an appliance fitted with the said heat collecting means is equivalent to consumption for operating the appliance itself solely as a refrigerator.

    • The present invention relates to a motor-driven compressor unit, particularly for airtight compressors on refrigerating machines, comprising a main part (1), a crankshaft (3) which rotates in a first seat in the main part (1) and the crank pin (4) of which constitutes one end of the shaft, a piston (2) which slides in a second seat in the main part (1), and a single-piece connecting rod (5) coupled directly to the crank pin (4) with no parts inbetween and to the piston (2) by means of a pin (8). In one arrangement of the present invention, an opening (10) is made in the piston slide seat nearest the crank pin (4) so that parts may be assembled in the following order: crankshaft (3) in the main part (1) with the crank pin (4) in the bottom dead centre position; connecting rod (5) straight inside the crank pin (4) through the said opening (10); piston (2) in the cylindrical seat; pin (8) in the piston (2) and connecting rod (5). Besides making assembly easier, this arrangement reduces the number of component parts required as well as friction and total weight.
