    • The present disclosure relates to a separation plate (140) configured to be disposed between an azimuth unit (104) and an upper gear unit (102) of an azimuth thruster (100) such that a first lubricant compartment (160) disposed inside the azimuth unit (104) is at least partially separated from a second lubricant compartment (162) disposed inside the upper gear unit (102). The separation plate (140) comprises a cylindrical body (164) with a central axis (166). The separation plate (140) further comprises a hole (142) formed in the cylindrical body (164) and configured to fluidly connect the first lubricant compartment (160) to the second lubricant compartment (162). The separation plate (140) further comprises a hollow space (170) formed in the cylindrical body (164) and open to the first lubricant compartment (160), the hollow space (170) including a defined minimal accommodation volume configured to accommodate a volume of lubricant such that a lubricant level (402) in the second lubricant compartment (162) is below an upper gear crown wheel (116) of the upper gear unit (102) during operation of the azimuth thruster (100).

    • A power system for a marine vessel comprises an engine and a controllable pitch thruster (14) drivably coupled to the engine.
