    • The invention relates to a plant characterized in that it overexpresses phytochrome. The invention relates particularly to a plant which overexpresses phytochrome through the introduction of a phytochrome B gene into said plant. The invention further relates to plant parts, seed and/or plant cells which, like the plant, are characterized by phytochrome overexpression. The invention also relates to the use of one and/or several phytochrome genes for the production of plants which overexpress phytochrome. The invention further relates to a method for growing a plant which overexpresses phytochrome or parts of plants, seed and/or cells which overexpress phytochrome. Lastly the invention relates to a vector containing a phytochrome gene which codes for an amino acid sequence the N-terminal of which is rich in glycine.
