摘要： On a faceplate having a phosphor layer and a metal back that are formed on a substrate, in a vacuum atmosphere, for instance an active Ba film is deposited as a getter film. Following this, while maintaining the vacuum atmosphere, the faceplate thereon the getter film is deposited and a rear plate having a plurality of electron emitters formed on a substrate are oppositely disposed to form a gap therebetween through a support frame, the gap being hermetically sealed. A flat panel display comprises the active Ba film formed on for instance the metal back as a getter film. Such getter film, while maintaining an activity, is disposed on an image display region in a vacuum vessel, having an excellent getter function.

摘要： A cathode ray tube, which has a getter assembly (18) for providing proper vacuum conditions within the tube. The getter assembly (18) comprises a resilient strip (19) having a first end portion (23) and a second end portion (25), and is detachably secured to a high voltage contact (15). A getter cup (21) is connected to the first end portion (23). The second end portion (25) is cooperatively engaged with one, preferably two protrusions (30) for limiting lateral movements of the resilient strip (19). The protrusions (30) are provided inside the envelope (5) of the tube. This arrangement reduces the risk of obtaining a layer of getter material at the wrong location within the tube.

摘要： An evaporable getter device to be mounted in an electron tube comprises a holder (102) the bottom wall (110) of which is provided with means (112) for preventing detachment therefrom of the getter metal vapour releasing material (104) which is pressed within the holder and is formed on its upper surface (116) with a plurality of heat transfer retarding means (118) in a circumferential direction through the getter metal vapour releasing material. When the getter device is heated by currents induced from an RF field created by a coil positioned outside the electron tube, high quantities of getter metal are released in a short time without a detachment of residual thereof from the holder. 摘要： Outgassed materials liberated in spaces between pointed field emitter tips (14) and an electrode structure (22) during electrical operation of a field emitter device are vented through passageways (12b,20,22a,3) to a pump or gettering material (40) provided in a separate space. The passageways may include channels formed through an insulating layer between a base for the field emitters, and the electrode structure, with the channels interconnecting adjacent spaces in a row direction. Where the electrode structure includes a gate electrode layer and an anode layer (28), similar channels (28a) may be formed through an insulator layer provided therebetween. The field emitters may be formed in an arrangement of rows and columns, with the spacing between the columns smaller than the spacing between the rows. Holes are formed by anisotropic etching through the anode, gate electrode, and insulator layers down to the base. Subsequent isotropic etching of the insulator layers through the holes in the anode and gate electrode layers is controlled to cause sufficient undercutting in the insulator layers that adjacent holes merge together only in the row direction to form the channels.
