摘要： A suspension system (20) controls the amount of compressible fluid (42) within struts (28) to determine spring rate coefficients (KS) and dampening coefficients (BS) for the struts (28). the spring rate and dampmening coefficients (KS, BS) are selected to provide foraces (F) which are a sum of several components, which include a desired target static force (Fd) for balancing various forces acting upon a vehicle chassis, comparison of the target strut force (Fd) to the actual force (F) applied by the respective struts (28), comparison of velocity (żS) of the chassis relative to a selected reference datum, and a ride height error (erh). Frequency dependant filtering decreases the spring rate coefficients (KS) when changes in position (ZS) are detected at frequencies (ω) beneath a threshold level (ωK), and decreases the dampening coefficients (BS) when changes in velocity (ZS) are detected at frequencies (ω) above a threshold level (ωB).

摘要： A suspension damper (10) includes a housing bounding a main chamber. A piston rod (34) is slideably disposed within the main chamber of the housing. A main piston (38) is mounted on the first end of the piston rod within the main chamber of the housing so as to slideably engage against the housing in sealed engagement, the main piston having a first side and an opposing second side with a compression port extending therebetween. A control valve assembly is disposed within the main chamber and bounds a sealed valve compartment. The control valve assembly (100) is movable between a first position wherein the valve compartment is compressed to a first volume and a second position wherein the valve compartment is expanded to an enlarged second volume, the control valve assembly being movable under pressure so as to provide variable compression damping properties.

摘要： An acceleration sensitive shock absorber has a tubular housing and a piston assembly (14) in the housing dividing the housing into an upper chamber and a lower chamber. The piston is connected to the wheel of a vehicle and the housing is connected to the chassis of the vehicle. Fluid can pass between the upper and lower chambers with a restricted flow rate during either extension or compression of the shock absorber. There is a first port (78) for providing fluid flow from the lower chamber to the upper chamber during downward acceleration of the wheel. A movable inertia mass (46) in the piston assembly opens the first port during downward acceleration of the wheel of the vehicle for increasing flow between the chambers. A pocket (66) beneath the inertial mass applies sufficient pressure to the inertial mass to retain it in a port-open position during fluid flow after acceleration has decreased. There is a fluid turning vane for applying sufficient fluid pressure to the inertial mass to maintain the mass in a port-closed position when acceleration of the wheel has decreased or stopped. In addition there is a pressure relief system including a port from the pocket and a pressure relief valve for relieving fluid pressure in the pocket, thus minimizing mechanical noise as the inertial mass moves toward the port-open position.

摘要： A flow-control valve assembly for an electro-rheological (ER) fluid has an inlet port (12), an outlet port (14) and a flow path for ER fluid extending between the inlet and outlet ports (12 and 14). A bypass passage (39) defining a pressure-relief means is disposed downstream of the flow restrictor and permits flow between inlet and outlet ports (12 and 14) when the flow-control valve is closed.
