    • An improved board material is provided comprising a set cementitious core bearing on at least one of its surfaces as a facer a multilayer nonwoven fibrous mat of a specific structure. The outer layer of the mat comprises fibers of a fine diameter of approximately 1 to 10 microns and the inner layer of the mat comprises coarser fibers having a greater diameter (e.g., approximately 12 to 30 microns and preferably approximately 15 to 20 microns). The outer surface is relatively smooth and is aesthetically pleasing. The coarser fibers of the inner surface provide interstices between adjoining fibers so as to promote the ingress of the cementitious core prior to setting with the achievement of enhanced adhesion between the set cementitious core and the multilayer nonwoven fibrous mat.

    • A multilayer fibrous nonwoven mat containing at least one transition zone comprised of a mixture of the slurries used to form the layers on each side of the transition zone, the transition zone having a thickness of at least 1 percent of the thickness of the mat. At least one of the layers contains glass fibers. The multilayer mats are particularly useful as facers on gypsum wall board, insulating foam, a wood material and a broad range of other materials. The multilayer mats are made by a method that involves using a lamella in the forming box on a wet laid mat machine, between slurries, the lamella ending a significant distance prior to a moving forming wire. The transition zone or zones provide superior interlaminar shear strength and other properties compared to multilayer fibrous mats produced on wet laid machines having two or more separate forming boxes.

    • A roofing membrane temperature indicator is provided for preventing the installation of a roofing membrane or roofing membranes at a temperature below a minimum recommended installation temperature for the roofing membrane(s) and/or a minimum recommended installation temperature for the roofing membrane(s) for a particular installation procedure. The membrane temperature indicator is visibly associated with the roofing membrane(s) and includes a thermochromic indicator having a first color at temperatures below a designated temperature and a second color visibly different from the first color at and above the designated temperature. The designated temperature at which the color of the membrane indicator changes is at or above a minimum recommended installation temperature for the roofing membrane(s) and/or a minimum recommended installation temperature for the roofing membrane(s) for a particular installation procedure.
