摘要： The invention relates to very precisely measuring changes in thickness of pipe walls to determine corrosion rate prior to any significant corrosion loss. The thickness is determined by ultrasonic testing where many measurements of the wall thickness are taken at the same spot by a fixed sensor and errors associated with noise and temperature changes are substantially eliminated. A highly sensitive receiver converts each reflected pulse to waves that are averaged with other pulse measurements. The resulting average wave is analyzed so that each waveform is analyzed to identify the extrema and inflection points of each reflected pulse. The resulting analysis provides a far more accurate determination of the time between reflected pulses. As a result, a far more accurate picture of corrosion at the location of the wall of the pipe can be determined within weeks with a high degree of confidence.

摘要： Methods and systems are provided for favorably altering the chemomechanical properties of subterranean formations using treatment fluids comprising surfactants and halide salts. Methods for treating formations comprise the steps of introducing a chemomechanical treatment fluid into the formation and allowing the treatment fluid to interact with the formation to alter its petrochemical properties in various ways. Depending on the application, the chemomechanical treatment fluid may comprise a base fluid, a halide salt and an amphoteric or nonamphoteric surfactant where the surfactant is dissolved in the base fluid at a concentration below its critical micelle concentration. Applications of use involving the chemomechanical treatment fluids include treatment operations, secondary recovery operations, drilling operations, and any other operation that would benefit from the formation property modifications described herein. Subterranean formation properties that may to be varied by the chemomechanical treatment fluid include fracture toughness, compressive strength, and tensile strength.

摘要： This invention relates to a process for producing an improved powder for the positive electrode of lithium ion batteries wherein the powder comprises lithium, vanadium and phosphate. The process includes forming a suspension of the precursors with a high boiling temperature solvent and heating the suspension to a reaction temperature of between 250°C and 400°C to convert the precursors to the desired solid product. The solid product is separated from the suspension and is heated to a higher temperature to crystallize the product. The resulting product retains a small particle size thus avoiding the need for milling or other processing to reduce the product to a particle size suited for batteries.
