    • A method for guiding a user to capture an image of a target object using an image capturing device (102) comprises determining (308, 310, 312, 314) a bounding area for the image to be captured and capturing (318) at least one frame of the image upon detecting the image to be inside the bounding area. The target object in the captured at least one frame is segmented (320) by separating the target object from the rest of the image. At least one of symmetry and self-similarity of the segmented target object is determined (322), and at least one image parameter (324) is determined by a sensor. The method then provides inputs (326) for guiding the user to capture a final image of the target object, based on at least one of the determined symmetry, self-similarity, and at least one image parameter.

    • A method, non-transitory computer readable medium, and an image analysis computing device (14) that retrieves (302), based on a captured version of an object in a received image, training images which display related versions of the object and items of data related to the related versions of the object of the training images. Keypoints which are invariant to changes in scale and rotation in the captured version of the object in the received image and in the related versions of the object in the training images are determined (306). Changes to the object in the received image based on any of the determined keypoints in the related version of the object which do not match the determined keypoints in the captured version of the object are identified (316).
