There are at least two PDP contexts (PDP1-PDP9) available in the packet-switched network (NW), which have at least partly different data transfer properties, whereby the PDP contexts (PDP1-PDP9) can provide at least partly different qualities of service for the transfer of information. The method is characterised in that when the quality of service specified for the application connection changes, it is examined on the basis of the properties of the PDP context (PDP1-PDP9) available in the packet-switched network (NW) which of the PDP contexts (PDP1-PDP9) is suitable for use by the application connection with the changed quality of service, and the one of the PDP contexts (PDP1-PDP9), the data transfer properties of which are the closest to the changed quality of service is selected for the application connection.

摘要： A signaling network gateway device (12) is provided for use in a signaling network (10), such as a Signaling System 7 signaling network. The signaling network gateway device (12) includes a protocol interface unit, a signaling transport unit, and a signaling gateway control unit (58). The protocol interface unit converts signaling information between a first format and a second format and exchanges signaling information in the second format with a user access element, such as a digital loop carrier (26), of the signaling network (10). The protocol interface unit may include any number of individual protocol interface units such as an ISDN protocal interface unit (50), a future protocol interface unit (52), a TAPI/TSAPI protocol interface unit (54), and an SS7 protocol interface unit (56). The signaling transport unit performs link speed conversion on the signaling information in the first format so that the signaling information may be exchanged with a transport signaling link, such as a link (15), of the signaling network (10) at a desired rate. The signaling transport unit may include any number of individual signaling transport units such as an SS7 signaling transport unit (68) and an SS7/ATM signaling transport unit (70). The signaling gateway control unit (58) controls an exchange of signaling information in the first format between the signaling transport unit and the protocol interface unit.

摘要： A filtering and application triggering platform may be implemented on a signaling message routing node (100) to decode signaling messages and increase efficiency in subsequent processing of the signaling message. A communications link module on a signaling message routing node receives a signaling message. A first filtering and application triggering module (116) associated with the communication link module (102) extracts predetermined parameters from the signaling message and generates a decode key based on the parameters. The first filtering and application triggering module (116) applies a first triggering rule to the decode key and determines whether to forward or drop the message. If the first filtering and application triggering module (116) determines that the message should be forwarded, the first filtering and application triggering module forwards the message to another processing module (106) within the signaling message routing node. The decode key is forwarded along with the message. The next processing module (106) may extract additional parameters from the message, add the parameters to the decode key, and apply a triggering rule to the modified decode key.
