摘要： The invention relates to a detection system for detecting the presence of an article partly formed from a sheet or stacks of sheets in a detection area. Such known detection systems are oftentimes used in mail handling and processing machines and to that end comprise a transmitter unit for emitting electromagnetic waves into the detection area and a receiver unit for receiving electromagnetic waves emitted by the transmitter unit and for detecting a disturbance of these electromagnetic waves, caused by the article when the article is located in the detection area.
In accordance with the invention, the system further comprises a control unit which controls the transmitter unit in such a manner that a received signal, which represents the received electromagnetic waves, generated by the receiver unit lies within specified limits.

摘要： Apparatus for forming an image on a record medium comprising transport means (10, 13) for causing a record medium to be transported along a transport path within the apparatus so as to be discharged therefrom; a rotatable image-receiving member (1) for receiving the said image; a transfer device (5) adjacent the transport path for transferring the image from the image-receiving member (1) to the record medium; and a fixing device (11) adjacent the transport path for fixing the image on the record medium characterised in that the apparatus is provided on a front side thereof with a door (23) which, when open, provides access to the transport path (21), image-receiving member (1), transfer device (5) and fixing device (11) within the apparatus and which is pivoted around an axis parallel to that of the image-receiving member (1), the arrangement being such that access space for normal operation of the apparatus and the said access to the transport path (21), image-receiving member (1), transfer device (5) and fixing device (11) is only required at the front and top sides of the apparatus. The arrangement is such that any jam can readily be cleared even by an inexperienced user in a natural posture without any fear of his hands being stained and with no risk to the apparatus being damaged. It is also such that the user can reliably exchange a cartridge, preferably employed in the apparatus, in a natural posture; this being achieved by performing almost the same operation as a jam removing operation from the front side of the apparatus from which paper is preferably discharged in normal use.

摘要： The transport of record carriers in sheet form can be monitored simply, reliably and accurately, in particular in the region of the transfer station of an electrographic printer, thereby ensuring transfer of the toner image to the record carrier in sheet form with faithful reproduction of the format. The reloading and transfer process can be temporally synchronized with the output signal (VER) of an optical sensor (7) for detecting the front edge of a record carrier (2), (a) from the transfer station (6). Side delivery of a record carrier is detected by an optical measuring device (9 to 13) which moves outward in steps from a zero position transversally to the transport path (1) and detects the side edge of the record carrier. The number of steps in an index of the side delivery of the record carrier, the magnitude of which is used to adjust the toner image horizontally at the beginning of a line at a given distance from the side edge. The monitoring device is particularly applicable for single-sheet operation in electrographic printers.

摘要： An image forming apparatus can be achieved as, for example, a copying machine. The copying machine according to the present invention comprises a handy scanner (31) provided detachably from the main body(1) of the copying machine and an additional data recording device (9) for recording data read by the handy scanner (31) as additional data in addition to a mechanism for reading an image of a document disposed on an original glass plate(2) to copy the same on recording paper. The handy scanner(31) can read arbitrary image data such as a figure, a designed character or a logotype. The image data read by the handy scanner (31) is applied to the additional data recording device(9). If the paper on which the document image has been copied is applied to the additional data recording device(9), the additional data recording device(9) records the additional data on the rear end of the paper on which the document image has been copied. The additional data recording device(9) is operated after the document image is copied, the paper being conveyed at a speed different from that at the time of copying the document image during the operation.

摘要： A sheet transporting apparatus, for transporting a sheet-form article along a feeding path between first and second locations that are spaced apart horizontally, comprises two parallel endless-loop conveyors (10a) having respective horizontal portions extending along opposite sides of the said feeding path, a sheet-gripper (10e, 10f) having opposite ends mounted respectively on the two parallel conveyors (10a), so as to extend therebetween across the said feeding path, for gripping a leading edge of such a sheet-form article (P) and pulling it along the said path, and an auxiliary endless conveyor belt (22) arranged so as to have a horizontal upper operative portion extending along the said feeding path, between the said two parallel conveyors, for supporting such a sheet-form article rearward of the said gripper. The support surface of the auxiliary conveyor belt (22) is formed with a recess (22d) which, when the apparatus in use, accommodates the said gripper (10e, 10f) so as to enable the sheet-form article gripped thereby to extend horizontally therefrom onto the said support surface rearward of the said recess as that article is pulled along the said feeding path. Such a sheet transporting apparatus may be used, for example, in a printer or photocopier for feeding a sheet, on which an image is to be printed, between toner printing units arranged along the feeding path, and can enable the sheet to be delivered to these units reliably and in a desirably accurate horizontal disposition.
