摘要： The co-jointed rubber manufacturing method according to the present invention is characterized by comprising an end face shaping step for shaping one end face of a sheet form non-vulcanized rubber member into a state in which the one face can be abutted on the other end face, and an end face co-jointing step for mutually abutting the one end face on the other end face, to effect co-jointing. In the present invention, in the end face shaping step, the one end face and the other end face of the sheet form non-vulcanized rubber member are shaped into such a state as can be mutually abutted. And, in the end face co-jointing step, the one end face and the other end face are co-jointed by abutting on each other. Consequently, in the resulting co-jointed rubber, the co-jointing is performed in high efficiency, no gap is formed in the conjugation face, and high dimensional precision and sufficient conjugation strength are secured.

摘要： A method and apparatus is described for applying unvulcanized gumstrips (11) in precise overlapping relation on the marginal edges (12,13) of an unvulcanized tire reinforcement belt or breaker (14) to enhance the adhesion between the reinforcement belt or breaker and surrounding components of a finished, vulcanized tire. The method and apparatus comprise a number of important features; namely, tensioning the gumstrips as they pay out from a letoff device (21), reeving the gumstrips, in tension, at least partially around a pair of barrel-shaped rollers (23) which precisely locate the gumstrips for subsequent contact with a belt as it moves in a horizontal pathway, providing a specially contoured roller (25) for applying the gumstrips to the moving belt, removing a protective cover sheet (20) from each gumstrip at a unique angle where the resistance to separating the two components is minimized, and folding any portions of the gumstrips overhanging the marginal edges of the belt, at a plurality of stations which employ at least two sets of rollers (32,37,39,56) which are resiliently and horizontally preloaded to accommodate variations in the width of the belts being processed.

摘要： Handling means for the transportation of flexible sheet material comprises two work stations and a carrier (15) movable between the two work stations. The carrier is provided with means (12, 13) securely to support flexible sheet material (9) during its transport by the carrier between two work stations. The carrier preferably is flexible in a first direction whereby it may be deformed to follow a curved path (26) around a mandrel (25) at one work station.
