To each milking station (4) is allocated a connector (16), the catch (22) of which moves a coupling (8) on the carriage (6) into position 'B' and thus connects a rinsing line (9) to a switching device (15) which switches a milking machine (14) from a milk line (18) to the rinsing line (9). In the subsequent rinsing process, the carriage (6) is taken by the connector (16) until the travel of the carriage (6) terminates at the stop (26). The coupling (8) is taken further by the catch (22) and lowered by the parallelogram linkage (24) into position 'C', which releases the coupling (8) and connector (16). The weight (29) now pulls the carriage (6) via the cable (28) back into its initial position 'A', from which it is again taken through the next milking station (4) in the manner described above.
