摘要： A milking system includes an optical detector for detecting radiation emitted and/or reflected by a part of an animal, the optical detector having a housing with a window that is substantially transparent to the radiation. The milking system further includes a cleaning device for cleaning the window of the optical detector. The cleaning device includes a nozzle connected to a source of steam, and in operation the nozzle directs steam against the window of the optical detector. The use of steam to clean the window provides heating and rinsing free of impurities and minerals that can leave deposits and residue on the window and which, over time, may degrade the operation of the optical detector.

To each milking station (4) is allocated a connector (16), the catch (22) of which moves a coupling (8) on the carriage (6) into position "B" and thus connects a rinsing line (9) to a switching device (15) which switches a milking machine (14) from a milk line (18) to the rinsing line (9). In the subsequent rinsing process, the carriage (6) is taken by the connector (16) until the travel of the carriage (6) terminates at the stop (26). The coupling (8) is taken further by the catch (22) and lowered by the parallelogram linkage (24) into position "C", which releases the coupling (8) and connector (16). The weight (29) now pulls the carriage (6) via the cable (28) back into its initial position "A", from which it is again taken through the next milking station (4) in the manner described above.
