    • A method for inputting information to a device connected to a deformable piece includes the steps of manipulating the deformable piece to provide a first morpheme input to the device. The first morpheme input normally triggers a first default action by the device, such as controlling a display, modifying a data structure, or communicating with another electronic device. When a user asynchronously manipulates the deformable piece to provide a second morpheme input to the device, the second morpheme input converts the normally triggered first default action to a second action generally not equivalent to the first default action. This mode of interaction allows formation of morphemic sentences to control a graspable device.
The method is implemented by a device (10) supporting a manipulatable user interface, the device comprising:

a feedback module (33) for presenting information related to a data structure,
a processor (24) for controlling the feedback module (33) and the data structure, and
a deformable piece (20) including multiple subregions. The deformable piece is attached in a vicinity to the feedback module (33), with the deformable piece contacting at least one sensor (22) that monitors positional changes within multiple subregions of the deformable piece (20). The at least one sensor (22) is connected to the processor (24).

    • A multi-drop per spot printing system delivers ink drops from different droplet ejectors to reduce printhead signature. By dividing the ink density of ink pixels or spots between different sources so that more than one discrete drop of ink is required to fill a given pixel on the recording media, the probability of generating artifacts created by droplet ejector misdirectionality and variations in drop size are minimized. In operation, the multiple drop per spot printing system provides a first and a second set of droplet ejectors that is defined using a single printhead or a plurality of printheads. A first quantity of ink required for a preselected pixel location on a recording media is deposited by a droplet ejector using the first set of ejectors. Subsequently, a second quantity of ink required for the preselected pixel location on the recording media is deposited by a droplet ejector using the second set of ejectors.

    • A liquid ink printing system for printing images having different grayscales through control of a printhead carriage velocity and the number of drops deposited per pixel location. The liquid ink printing system prints from print data an image on a recording medium including pixel locations being deposited with liquid ink drops. The printing system includes a printhead, including a plurality of drop ejectors, for depositing the liquid ink drops, a scanning carriage, coupled to the printhead, for moving the printhead across the recording medium, and a print driver, operatively coupled to the scanning carriage and to the printhead, for controlling the scanning carriage to move at a plurality of velocities, each of the plurality of velocities being associated with one of a plurality of grayscales. Each of the plurality of grayscales is characterized by a maximum number of ink drops deposited at one of the pixel locations. In a draft mode, for instance, one drops per pixel location is deposited and in a high quality mode, four drops per pixel location are deposited. For each of the grayscale modes, the scanning carriage moves at a different velocity.

    • A hand held, power driven planing tool (1) is fitted with at least one guide/guard member (2, 3). The guide/guard member (2, 3) comprises a first portion (5) which facilitates attachment to the planing tool (1) and a second portion (7) which is angled relative to the first portion. In use, a template defining the desired profile of a workpiece is attached to the side of an unworked workpiece and the said second portion of the guide/guard member is braced against the side of the workpiece. As the workpiece is worked by the planing tool the said second portion of the guide/guard member engages with and follows the template thereby ensuring that the profile of the finished workpiece exactly reproduces the shape of the template.
