摘要： A seating unit (20) includes a base (21), a seat (22), a back (23), and a control (24) operably supporting the seat and the back on the base for movement between upright and recline positions. The control includes a spring (137) providing a biasing supporting force to the back during recline, and further includes a booster mechanism (25) capable of increasing the supporting force, and still further includes a selector device (155) for activating and deactivating the booster mechanism. The selector device is easily moveable with a low effort that is separated from and independent from any friction generated by internal components of the booster mechanism. In a narrower aspect, the control is powered, such as by an electrical or electromechanical device from a remote location. A back stop is attached to the selector device, for movement between a disengaged position, a partial-recline position, and a recline-prevented position.

摘要： A system of nestable chairs for use in a work environment is disclosed. The system includes a plurality of chairs. Each chair includes a base, a support coupled to the base, and a seat assembly coupled to the support and adapted for pivotal movement and for vertical adjustment with respect to the base. The base of a first chair of the plurality of chairs is configured to allow for nesting within the base of a second chair of the plurality of chairs. A chair for use in a work space or the like is also disclosed. The chair includes a base having a nesting portion and a nested portion, a support coupled to the base, and a seat assembly coupled to the support and adapted for pivotal movement and for vertical adjustment with respect to the base. The nested portion of the base is configured to allow for nesting within the nesting portion of the base. The chair may also include a support in the form of a pedestal coupled to the base. A yoke may be coupled to the pedestal, with the seat assembly coupled to the yoke and adapted for pivotal movement and for vertical adjustment with respect to the base.

摘要： A utility distribution system is provided for modular furniture of the type comprising individual furniture units (3) which are juxtaposed to form one or more workstations. A signal conductor (5) is positioned in each furniture unit, and extends generally between opposite sides thereof. Quick-disconnect connectors (7) are provided at the opposite ends of each of the signal conductors, and mate with like quickdisconnect connectors in adjacent furniture units to create a communications network through the workstations. Each furniture unit has a signaler (9) physically associated therewith, which is connected with an associated signal conductor at a coupler (10). A network controller (11) is operably connected to the network to evaluate the network and/or the associated furniture units. The furniture units may be equipped with one or more utility ports (12) which are connected with the coupler, and service utility appliances, such as personal computers (13), telephones (14), facsimile machines (15) switches (27), power outlets (25), data receptacles (26) and the like. The utility appliances preferably have memory capability to internally store operating instructions for the same, which are transmitted to the network controller when the utility appliance is initialized.

摘要： An assembly includes panels forming a bin or cabinet, and a flipper door operably attached to the bin by a pair of opposing modules. Each module includes a body forming a groove forming a curvilinear track along its upper edge, and the door includes a follower operably engaging the track. Each module further includes a spring-biased lever pivoted to the body of the module at a mid-lever pivot. A first leg of the lever is pivoted to the door at a door pivot, and an oppositely extending second leg is connected to a spring-biased force-generating device. The arrangement is constructed to counterbalance a weight of the door in most intermediate positions.
