摘要： Separation of individual laminations is performed by positioning a row of the laminations against a metal tray or similar supporting surface. The opposite ends of the row are engaged between platens which are oriented parallel to each other at a first angle relative to the axis of the row. While compressing the row between the platens, a force is applied against a side of the row to compact it against the supporting surface. The row is the engaged between platens that are oriented parallel to each other but at a second angle relative to the axis of the row, and a compacting force is again applied while the row is compressed between the platens. At least one of the first and second angles is an oblique angle.

The apparatus includes: a deck (16) having a receiving end (20) and a feeding end (18) for supporting the stack of sheets on edge, the deck (16) oriented at an angle between about 10 and 20 degrees to a horizontal plane and wherein the feeding end (18) is lower than the receiving end (20); a main urge roller (24) situated above the feeding end (18) of the deck (16) at about midway between the top and bottom edges of the stack of sheets (14), whereby the stack is bent at a point in the sheets about midway between the top and bottom edges of the sheets; a secondary feed roller (28) parallel to and situated above the main urge roller (24) near the top edge of the stack of sheets, wherein a line of tangency joining the peripheries of the main urge roller and the feed roller adjacent the stack of sheets is disposed at an angle between about 40 and 50 degrees to a horizontal plane; a device (26) for urging the stack (14) against the main urge roller (24) as the stack (14) is reduced in the course of the feeding of the sheets seriatim; and a device (30,32) downstream of the secondary feed roller (28) for separating the bottom sheet from the stack of sheets (14) at the top edge of the stack.
