摘要： The golf ball comprises all known cores provided with a cover produced by a polymer blend that combines the durability of a conventional cover with the feel of a traditional balata cover having a plurality of dimples in a modified dodecahedron pattern. The dodecahedron consists of twelve pentagons, which are subdivided into a total of sixty triangles. The triangles are then further subdivided into rows into which various diameter dimples are placed. The dimple pattern can be arranged to produce a pattern of ten great circles, which are free of dimples. The cover formulation is a blend of various ethylene/methacrylic acid copolymers wherein at least one copolymer has a high modulus and at least one copolymer has a moderate modulus forming a miscible blend having a PD1 index that maximizes durability while still maintaining feel and playability.

摘要： In a non-limiting exemplary embodiment of the present invention, a golf ball has a surface comprising a plurality of dimples arranged in an amorphous pattern. In an additional embodiment of the invention, a golf ball has a surface comprising a plurality of spaced dimples, wherein the dimples each comprise a non-circular shape and are spaced by land portions having substantially uniform widths. In an additional embodiment of the present invention, a golf ball has a surface formed with a plurality of non-circular, multi-sided shaped dimples and interposed lands having substantially consistent widths between adjacent dimples. In yet another alternative embodiment of the present invention, an exemplary method of making a golf ball having a dimpled surface is provided. The process comprises generating an amorphous pattern of non-circular shaped dimples and then transferring the amorphous pattern to the surface of the golf ball.

摘要： A method of laying out a dimple pattern on a golf ball comprises constructing a geodesically expanded icosahedron having 60 equal triangular faces (43). Each of the 60 triangular faces (43) includes a substantially identical dimple pattern. The geodesic icosahedron is formed by constructing an icosahedron which is circumscribed by a sphere which has the diameter of the golf ball. A geodesic focus point (41) is determined by projecting said point (39) onto the surface of the sphere. Each geodesic focus point (41) is connected to each apex (37) of the icosahedral triangle (35) so that each geodesic focus point (41) forms a right regular tetrahedron having a base formed by the icosahedral triangle (35) and three triangular faces (43) which merge at the geodesic focus point (41).
