    • Der erfindungsgemäße elektrostatische Schallwandler enthält zwei zueinander parallele, perforierte Isolierplatten (1, 2), deren innere Oberflächen je mit einer elektrisch leitenden Schicht (3, 4) bedeckt sind, von denen jede eine Signalausführung (5 bzw. 6) zur Verbindung mit einer schallfrequenten Signalquelle aufweist, während zwischen den perforierten Platten (1, 2) eine flexible, hochohmig elektrisch leitende Membran (7) befestigt ist, die von den elektrisch leitenden Schichten (3, 4) isoliert ist und eine Ausführung (9) zur Verbindung mit der Polarisationsspannungsquelle aufweist. Dabei ist auf wenigstens einer der perforierten Platten (1, 2) die elektrisch leitende Schicht mit hohem spezifischem Widerstand ausgeführt.
      Durch diesen Aufbau des elektrostatischen Schallwandlers läßt sich bei einfacher Konstruktion eine gleichmäßige Regulierung und Steuerung der Strahlungscharakteristik sowie eine regelmäßig verteilte Raum- und Frequenzcharakteristik der Strahlung erreichen.

    • A high efficiency electrical/acoustic transducer system formed from a plurality of electrical/acoustic transducer stages (6, 26, 8; 8, 28, 10; etc.) electrically and mechanically connected in succession to propagate electric and acoustic signals through the successive stages. An inductance network ( L /2, L, L, L , L /2) is connected in circuit with the transducer (6, 26, 8; 8, 28, 10; etc.) stages to slow the electrical signal propagation speed through the system to a speed which is substantially synchronous with the acoustic signal propagation speed, enabling the travelling electrical and acoustic waves to interact and to efficiently transform one form of energy into the other. In the preferred embodiment a plurality of acoustically transparent screens (6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22) form the transducer plates, each successive stage sharing a screen (8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20) in common with the previous stage, and the inductance network renders the input impedance substantially resistive. The invention is applicable to both acoustic speakers and microphones.

    • An ultrasound transducer according to the present invention includes: a plurality of piezoelectric elements configured to emit ultrasound according to input of an electric signal and convert ultrasound incident from an outside into an electric signal; and a mask portion that is provided between the plurality of piezoelectric elements and a radiation surface of the ultrasound on the ultrasound transducer. The mask portion is configured to: mask any divided region among a plurality of divided regions obtained by dividing an elevation direction orthogonal to a plane parallel to a scanning direction of the ultrasound; reflect the ultrasound in a direction different from a propagation direction of the ultrasound on the masked divided region; and allow the ultrasound to pass in the propagation direction in the divided regions except the masked divided region.
