摘要： A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided in connection with improving QoE in RAN congestion. In one example, a communications device is equipped to indicate a quality control indicator (QCI) for each of a plurality of applications that communicate with a RAN over a bearer, receive information regarding modification of the bearer or additional bearers based on the QCIs, and modify the bearer or additional bearers according to the information to achieve a desired QoE for at least one of the plurality of applications. In another example, a RAN is equipped to receive a QCI for each of a plurality of applications related to a bearer from a UE, and modify the bearer or adding additional bearers for communicating with the UE based on the QCI for each of the plurality of applications to improve QoE at the UE.

摘要： There is described a system of operating a network entity to distribute a media stream in a communications network. A plurality of different versions of the media stream are available from a content source, each version having a respective quality level different to that of the other versions and each version of the media stream comprises a plurality of consecutive portions. A first request is received from a user device for a portion of a first one of the versions of the media stream stored at a content source and a caching procedure is performed in response to receiving the first request. The caching procedure comprises requesting from the content source at least one portion of at least one of the other versions of the media stream or at least one other portion of the first one of the versions of the media stream; receiving the requested at least one portion or the at least one other portion; and causing the received at least one portion or the at least one other portion to be cached at a cache in the communication network.

Each of the plurality of streams can have an associated protection level that corresponds to an ability of packet reconstruction and a bandwidth cost. The system can also include a stream replicator configured to transmit each of the plurality of streams to a content receiver via N number of networks. The system can further include an adapter configured to control the coding rate and the protection level of each of the plurality of streams based on a feedback signal transmitted from the content receiver. The feedback signal can characterize a packet loss rate of each of the plurality of streams.

摘要： Techniques for calculating quality of user experience (QoE) scores for video streams as played on receiving devices are described herein. Prior to calculating a QoE score, a device receives a video of a display screen of a receiving device captured while the receiving device plays a video stream. The device also receives transmission metrics from at least one device engaged in the transmission of the video stream to the receiving device. The device then calculates the QoE score for that received video based at least in part on a reference video, the transmission metrics, and one or more QoE models. Additionally, prior to receiving the video or the transmission metrics, the device may automate the transmission of the reference video as the video stream from a sending device to the receiving device over at least one network emulator, including providing network impairment settings to the network emulator.
