摘要： The invention concerns a method for making a transponder (20) comprising the following steps: delimiting the different turns (8) of a coil in a sheet (1) comprising a dielectric substrate coated with at least a conductive layer (2) by stamping said conductive layer with a stamp (5) having cutting contact surfaces (6) with the surface conductive layer (2, 2''); connecting at least an electric component (25) with said turns (8); assembling at least one protective sheet (22; 27) covering said coil and said electronic component (25). In order to facilitate the stamping and to obtain neat cuts, the conductive layer is covered with a synthetic film before stamping. In order to prevent short circuits from occurring above the cuts, the latter are preferably filled with glue, varnish or lacquer.

摘要： Techniques for fabrication of small-scale metallic structures such as microinductors, microtransformers and stents are described. A chemically active agent such as a catalyst is applied from an applicator in a pattern to an exterior surface of an article, metal is deposited according to the pattern and optionally, removed from the substrate. Where the substrate is cylindrical, the pattern can serve as a stent. Alternatively, a pattern of a self-assembled monolayer can be printed on a surface, which pattern can dictate metal plating or etching resulting in a patterned metal structure that can be cylindrical. In another embodiment, a structure is patterned on a surface that serves as a phase-modulating pattern or amplitude-modulating pattern. The article subsequently is exposed to radiation that can induce a change in refractive index within the article, and the phase-modulating or amplitude-modulating pattern results in different indices of refraction being created in different portions of the article. By this technique, a grating can be written into a core of an optical fiber.

摘要： A magnetic or electromagnetic circuit component includes an embedded magnetic material (e.g., ferromagnetic) in an HDI structure with alternating dielectric and metal or winding layers. In one embodiment, the ferromagnetic material is situated in a substrate well, or cavity, with or without an adhesive. Alternatively, the ferromagnetic material is co-fired with the ceramic substrate and then machined to achieve a required core shape. An electroplating process is employed to construct the metal layers, such process including differential plating for varying the thickness of metal layers and/or other portions of the circuit. Laser ablation or any other suitable technique is employed to make through-holes for insertion of the posts of a ferromagnetic core plate used to complete a magnetic circuit, if required. Advantageously, a magnetic or electromagnetic component may have a height of less than about 0.1 inch. Furthermore, such magnetic or electromagnetic circuit components allow for very low inductance interconnections between these components and other circuit elements. Moreover, in a power supply, for example, not only can the complete power supply be built using HDI technology, but power density is increased at relatively low cost and at a high level of reproducibility.
