摘要： The invention concerns inertial navigation units for aircraft. In order to improve altitude measurement accuracy, it consists in associating with the inertial unit (C_INERT) a radio sonde supplying the aircraft altitude (HAUT_ALT) relative to the ground and a terrain database (DTED) supplying a ground altitude (ALT_GND) at the aircraft horizontal position delivered by the inertial unit. The inertial unit supplies an altitude (ALT_HYB) which is corrected on the basis of values supplied by the radio sonde and the terrain database. A protecting radius (RPalt_hyb_cor) of the thus corrected altitude is calculated. For said calculation of the protection radius, it consists in calculating in particular the dispersion of the terrain altitude around the aircraft horizontal position, in a circle delimited from the protection radius of the horizontal position (RPpos_hor_hyb), supplied by the inertial unit simultaneously with the horizontal position.

摘要： Systems and methods for Doppler beam sharpening in a radar altimeter are provided. In one embodiment, a method comprises receiving a return signal at a radar altimeter receiver and applying a first gate to the return signal to select at least a first component of the return signal. Spectral analysis is performed on the first component of the return signal to generate a plurality of frequency bins, wherein each frequency bin is centered around a different frequency across a Doppler shift frequency spectrum for the first component of the return signal. The method further comprises tracking the first component of the return signal, selecting a first frequency bin of the plurality of frequency bins based on the Doppler shift frequency of the first component of the return signal, and outputting a portion of the first component of the return signal falling within the first frequency bin for further processing.

摘要： In an aircraft conventionally-including a redundant pair of independent primary altitude determination systems of accuracy certified for RVSM operations, an initially loosely calibrated backup altimeter receives independent static pressure data for use in calculating altitude. During normal flight of the aircraft, the current altitude determinations of the primary altimeters and, using a recursive filter, the static source error correction (SSEC) of the backup altimeter is recursively adjusted until the SSEC attains a steady-state value with which the calculated altitude determinations by the backup altimeter accurately conform to the altitude determinations of the primary altimeters. Through this self-correction functionality the backup altimeter is rendered sufficiently accurate for permitted use in RVSM airspace in the event of a failure of one of the primary altitude determination systems.
