    • In accordance with the teachings of the present invention, a waste water treatment system for removing sludge from within a rectangular clarifying tank is provided. The waste water treatment system includes a plurality of sludge collector flights (60) attached to a pair of parallel chains (40,42) for collecting sludge and scum within the waste water. Each of the collector flights includes a non-metallic elongated main body portion having spaced top and bottom walls connected by spaced front and rear walls for defining a hollow, interior cavity. Buoyant foam material is disposed within the interior cavity for increasing the buoyancy of the collector flight. The waste water treatment system further includes integrated plastic bull and drive sprockets (36,38) and a chain drive assembly (30) for driving a pair of parallel drive chains (40,42) attached to the integrated plastic bull and drive sprockets. The chain drive assembly includes dual drive shafts exterior to the waste water with each extending across half the width of the tank.

    • This invention relates to waste water treatment, more specifically this invention relates to transportable decontamination system for water which is pumped from manholes and equipment vaults. The separation of water and contaminants is accomplished by a five module system. The first module removes 98% of the solids from the waste stream by use of staggered baffles. Module two reclamates the free oil present in the liquid flow with an coalescing water oil separator. The third module removes solids still left in the stream which are greater than 20 microns by use of a size discriminating filter. The fourth and fifth modules are banding tanks used to encapsulate hydrocarbons and heavy metals respectively. The sequence in which the contaminated flow enters each of the modules is essential to the effectiveness and efficiency of the filtration process.
      The polishing filter for the waste water treatment system has the capabilities for removing small solids and hydrocarbons present within a liquid flow is a filtration device to be used either in conjunction with processes already in existence or as a stand-alone unit. The polishing filter can be used for marine, commercial or industrial activities. Small solids will be discriminated by size by a removable and replaceable bag filter. Residing inside the bag filter is the polishing filter bonding media, a hydrocarbon encapsulation agent used to separate and bond emulsified and dissolved oils. This bonding media is contained inside a porous membrane bag which is also removable and replaceable. The addition of this device to already existing equipment utilized by ocean vessels and commercial and industrial activities will enhance the decontamination process and assist in compliance with local, national and international clean water laws for effluent from ships and shore-based activities.
