摘要： A system and method for providing ubiquitous Intelligent Peripheral (IP) services by directing a call received from a subscriber at a foreign Service Switching Point (SSP) to the subscriber's home IP via a packet switched network (ATM or Voice over IP). The Home IP provides a customized and/or enhanced service that is not provided by a foreign IP connected to the foreign SSP. The customized and/or enhanced services include call waiting, speed dialing, voice-activated dialing, voice-recognition service, voicemail, faxmail, and the like. The foreign SSP contains Dynamically Transportable Logic that is used to access a data record which identifies the location of the Home IP from call elements associated with the subscriber's call. The call elements include an ANI of the call, a DNIS of the call, a redirect number of the call, an OCN of the call, a PIN inputted by the subscriber, and a password inputted by the subscriber.

When a caller places a call, the number called is used to look up and return to the caller the Universal Resource Locator (URL) of the called party (56). The network operates as an interface between various wireless (39) and wireline (29) networks, and also performs media translation, where necessary. 摘要： A service node is described for use in an intelligent communications network for providing services for customers. The node comprises service defining means arranged to define a plurality of services; a plurality of resources each arranged to generate speech announcements in response to receipt of respective command signals and to provide an announcement finished signal when each generated speech announcement has finished being generated; a switch arranged to connect the resources to incoming calls routed by the network to the service node; and controlling means arranged to respond to such incoming calls to place details of the calls in corresponding service queues, to receive from the service defining means (a) a reserve resource request signal for reservation of a resource in respect of a call whose details have been passed to the service defining means by the controlling means from the top of a service queue, thereby associating the call with the service defining means, and in response to reserve a free one of the resources, (b) a connection request signal for the reserved resource to be connected to the call and in response to control the switch accordingly, (c) a command signal for the reserved resource to generate a corresponding speech announcement and in response to send the command signal to the reserved resource, (d) a signal for disassociating the service defining means from the call and in response to store the current details of the call, (e) a signal indicating that the service defining means is ready to handle another call and in response to pass to the service defining means the call then at the top of that service queue, and to receive from a reserved resource an announcement finished signal and in response to update the details of the corresponding call and to pass the updated details from store to the bottom of the corresponding service queue.

摘要： A distributed communications switching system and its associated telecommunications network infrastructure (10) includes a plurality of interconnected switching systems (12 1 ,12 2 and 12 3 ), some of which may be controlled by another switching system and its associated telecommunications network infrastructure. The switching systems are controlled via at least one switch processing platform (16) that generates generic commands for receipt by the switching systems in response to signaling messages received by the SPP. A fabric application interface (19) couples the switching systems to the switch processing platform for distributing generic commands to and from the appropriate switching system and for translating the generic commands into native commands (or vice versa) for execution by the switching system. The fabric application interface also translates signals received at the switching system into generic commands for receipt by the switch processing platform.
