摘要： Techniques to implement MBMS services in a wireless communication system. In one aspect, a method is provided for processing data for transmission to a plurality of terminals. Frames of information bits (which may have variable rates) are provided to a buffer implementing a matrix. The matrix is padded with padding bits based on a particular padding scheme to support variable frame rates. The frames are then coded based on a particular block code to provide parity bits. The frame of information bits and the parity bits are then transmitted to the terminals. In another aspect, a method is provided for controlling the transmit power of a data transmission to a plurality of terminals. In accordance with the method, TPC streams are received from the terminals and processed to obtain a stream of joint power control commands used to adjust the transmit power of the data transmission.

摘要： The present invention relates to a method for encoding and decoding an error correction block, and more particularly to a method for encoding and decoding an error correction block useful for a high-density optical disc. When an error correction block is encoded, a user data block is generated and parity outer information for a vertical data stream within the user data block is generated. Then, parity inner information is generated using an eraser detection code contained in a horizontal data stream or at least one of a syndrome check parity, a sync byte and an indicator flag is generated within the user data block so that an eraser can be declared in the horizontal data stream at a predetermined interval. On the other hand, when the error correction block is decoded, a determination is made as to whether errors are detected from the eraser detection code, the syndrome check parity, etc., and erasers are declared according to a result of the determination.

A receiving apparatus discards received packets from which errors are detected by using the error detection code contained in each packet, checks packet losses according to number information, and restores lost data using the error correction codes. The invention can provide an error correction method compensating for packet losses and bit errors in a packet and realizes efficient transmission with less delay by a simple circuit.

Within each identified bad byte, suspect bits are subsequently identified using information derived from parity decoding (162) of a row of the data block (164). Each suspect bit is then classified as either a confirmed error bit or an unconfirmed error bit using information derived from parity decoding (162) of a column of the data block (164) in which the suspect bit is located.
