摘要： A method for placing an edge piece on a battery plate includes bending a thin strip of bendable plastic material into an open top, U-shaped channel. The channel is then cut into an edge piece having a length which is substantially equal to the edge of the battery plate which is to be covered. The edge piece is supported with this open top oriented towards a battery plate that is transported toward it in a manner such that the battery plate edge will be inserted into it. Once the edge of the battery plate has been inserted into the edge piece the edge piece is released so that the battery plate can be carried out of the apparatus. An apparatus for accomplishing this includes a feed mechanism which transports the strip of bendable plastic material.

摘要： A tape cassette (24) is set in a cassette accommodating section of a tape printer. A magnetically affixable printing tape (26) is fed out from a holding reel (27) along with an ink ribbon (28) having a non-magnetic ink layer formed thereon across a cut in the tape cassette and conveyed through between a thermal head and a platen roller while being pressed by those elements. The printing tape comprises a printing layer and a magnetic layer pasted to the printing layer. The magnetic layer is magnetized such that S and N poles are alternately arranged longitudinally of the tape to thereby prevent turns of the tape roll from shifting widthwise. The magnetic layer has a coated fluorine layer formed thereon or has wrinkles formed thereon to thereby prevent blocking from occurring on a printing face of the tape due to its winding. Thus, the printing tape is conveyed in a correct attitude to enable a high quality image to be printed thereon.

摘要： Paper cutting apparatus is provided including a base (10), and a cutting arm (12). The base includes a non-rectangular-shaped upper face (14) and a cutting edge (24). The upper face preferably has an upper face having an area less than the smallest rectangle that will cover the face area. The upper face may include at least one line (30, 45, 60) inscribed thereon and angled at less than 90 degrees with respect to the cutting edge. The cutting arm is attached by a bolt (42) to one end of the board adjacent the cutting edge to allow a user to cut a sheet aligned along the angled line and extending over the cutting edge. A one-piece latch (64) may be provided which allows the cutting arm (12) to be latched to the base (10).

摘要： @ A paper shear mechanism consists of a guillotine (8) having a fixed blade (19) and a pivoted blade (21). The cutting edge (20) of the fixed blade is concavely curved so that paper (4) to be cut fed between the blades assumes a corresponding curvature and is given some longitudinal rigidity during the cutting operation. The pivoted blade is of composite structure to simplify the manufacturing process and thus reduce cost. Essentially, it includes a cutting section (37) stamped from flexible sheet steel shim to provide a cutting edge (40) with the desired nip angle. The flexible steel section is spot welded to a mild steel backing member (39) with an elongated spring member sandwiched between the two. The spring member has a number of spring teeth (41) which exert a force along the length of the flexible section to deflect its cutting edge laterally towards the fixed blade. By this means contact between the cutting edges (20 and 40) is maintained along the length of a cut and relief between the facing surfaces of the two blades is provided. A sheet feeding apparatus with a correspondingly curved cross-section to the fixed blade feeds paper web (4) to the shear mechanism. A single motor (13) serves to feed paper during forward rotation and to operate the paper shear during reverse rotation.
