    • A knee prosthesis includes a femoral prosthesis member (60) having anterior (12), distal (15), and posterior (13, 14) articulating surface portions. The articulating surface portions comprising a pair of condylar surface portions (13, 14, 61, 62) that are positioned at differing distances from the non-articulating surface plane. In one form the posterolateral articulating surface is a greater distance away from the anterior non-articulating surface than the posteromedial articulating surface (Figs. 1 and 15). The femoral prosthesis has a non-articulating surface that includes a plurality of intersecting surfaces including at least distal (23, 24), anterior (17, 18), and posterior (20, 21) surfaces for receiving the patient's distal femur after it has been surgically prepared. A tibial component (50) has concave articulating surfaces that receive the femoral component articulating surface portions during use. The angle of femoral rotation generally about the mechanical axis generally changes when going through a normal range of motion of the patient's knee while maintaining alignment of the femoral and tibial articular surfaces. The femoral prosthesis also has a proximal anterior region (65) that is concave (Fig. 19). An improved patella groove design is also shown (Figs. 20-24).

    • A spinal fastening apparatus for use in spinal fixation systems, comprising a bone screw, a collar and a locking pin. The bone screw has a threaded shaft portion with a generally longitudinal axis and a head portion having an eyelet with a central bore. The collar is generally U-shaped with a transverse axis and a slot adapted for placement over the eyelet portion of the screw. The elongated locking pin has an outer surface with gripping means on at least a portion of the outer surface and is sized and shaped to be slidably inserted through the eyelet. Surface portions of the collar and eyelet each include means for engaging the gripping means of the pin when the pin is inserted through the eyelet bore and the eyelet occupies the slot of the collar. The collar is capable of pivoting in relation to the eyelet to adjust for angulation between the longitudinal axis of the threaded shaft and the transverse axis of the collar and being locked into a selected angled position.

    • An implant for use in reattaching a bone section (W) following bone surgery which includes a plate-like member (10) for fitting over at least a portion of the outer surface of the bone section to be reattached. The plate has an inner surface for engaging the bone section and an outer surface facing away from the bone section and side walls extending between the inner and outer surface. The outer surface includes at least one cable holding portion (29,18,26,34) for holding a cable in place. A rectangular body (56) receives the ends of a cable and allows for gripping and holding the cable under tension. The rectangular body has opposing concave sides and a pair of openings (58) parallel to the concave sides for receiving the end of the cable. The rectangular body is collapsible by a crimping tool which pinches the cable in the openings. A recess (12) extends across the outer surface of the plate-like member for receiving the rectangular body with the recess intersecting the cable holding portions.
