摘要： An aqueous fracturing fluid comprises an environmentally friendly flowback aid. The flowback aid includes an amine oxide having the formula (CH3)NO(R1)(R2), where R1 and R2 are independently selected from linear or branched alkyl groups having from 8 to 16 carbon atoms. Optionally, the fracturing fluid may further comprise an alcohol ethoxylate of the formula R3-(OC2H4)x-OH, wherein R3 is a linear or branched alkyl group having from 6 to 18 carbon atoms, and wherein x ranges from 3 to 25. One example of an amine oxide is didecylmethyl amine oxide, and one example of an alcohol ethoxylate is ethoxylated isodecylalcohol (also known as ethoxylated isodecanol). The fracturing fluid is introduced through a well bore into the subterranean formation and pressurized to fracture the subterranean formation. The fracturing fluid is then allowed to flow back into the well bore from the subterranean formation.

摘要： The invention is directed towards methods and apparatus for accurately detecting the presence and concentration of an oxidant in a turbid water sample. This method is very helpful in allowing accurate and efficient (not too much nor too little) amounts of microbe killing oxidants to be introduced to water supplies that require oxidants but which at present cannot be measured properly. The method comprises the steps of: passing the water through at least one filter array, passing the filtered water to an analyzer, and then returning from the analyzer a measurement of the concentration. The filter array comprises at least one filter constructed and arranged to remove turbidity inducing material but not oxidant from the water sample. The analyzer can be a commonly commercially available analyzer that currently cannot accurately measure the oxidant concentration if the water had not been so filtered. This method allows users to apply easily available oxidant measuring technology to applications such as paper mill water where it is needed but was previously was not applicable.

摘要： Alpha-hydroxy alkyl esters have been found to perform as hydrogen sulfide scavengers. A method of scavenging hydrogen sulfide includes contacting a fluid containing hydrogen sulfide with a treatment fluid including an alpha-hydroxy alkyl ester. Accordingly, the alpha-hydroxy alkyl ester reacts with the hydrogen sulfide to reduce the amount of hydrogen sulfide in the fluid. A broad range of alpha-hydroxy alkyl esters are disclosed.

摘要： The current invention includes a composition having stability additives of selected inorganic salts and/or organic incorporated into an aldehyde-functionalized polymer product. The stability additive can be post added to the finished polymer product, added to the reaction vessel prior to inducing functionalization of the non-functionalized polymer, or added at any stage during the functionalization reaction. Methods for forming the composition and using the composition to produce a cellulosic fiber-based medium are also disclosed.
