    • The invention in an illustrative embodiment provides binding and bridging between a mobile terminal and other more complex terminals in a communication system. The binding is based on a determination of the proximity of the mobile to the other terminal, such that the mobile registers to different complex system terminals as it moves between different cells of the system. In accordance with the invention, a proximity-based temporary association is established, in a memory of a system switch, between the mobile and at least ore other system terminal. While the mobile is "registered" in this manner to the other terminal, the mobile user can request permission to utilize the functions of the other terminal in order to, for example, receive incoming calls or place outgoing calls. Other embodiments of the invention provide proximity-based registration which utilizes a beacon device carried by the user, such that the user automatically registers to different system terminals as he or she moves about within the system.

    • A method and apparatus for screening a call in a telecommunications network having a first system and a second system, with the second system having a general number for all subscriber stations in the second system. In the method and apparatus, call setup requests for calls to the general number of the second system are screened to determine if the call was originally made to a selected number of the first system and then forwarded to the general number, or, if the call was originally made to the general number of the second system. Subscriber handsets within the second system are then selectively alerted, depending on whether the call was forwarded from the first system or was made directly to the general number of the second system. In an embodiment of the invention the method and apparatus is implemented into a telecommunications network having a PCS system, a residential cordless phone system, and a dual mode mobile telephone capable of operation in both systems. When operating in the cordless residential system the dual mode telephone receives calls at the general number of the residential cordless system , and when operating in the PCS system the dual mode telephone receives calls directed to a unique PCS number assigned to the dual mode telephone. When a call setup request is received in the residential cordless system, an information field included in the call setup request is examined to determine if the call was originally directed to the unique PCS number of the dual mode telephone. If it is determined that the call was originally directed to the unique PCS number only the dual mode telephone is alerted. If the call was originally directed to the general number of the second system all subscriber stations, including the dual mode telephone, in the second system are alerted.

    • The invention relates to an arrangement for mobile telephony and more exactly an arrangement to utilize mobile telephone systems in office telephony applications. The invention especially can make possible a combination of local mobility under a private branch exchange (PBX) and ordinary mobile telephony with the same terminal, i.e. mobile telephone. According to the invention the arrangement has a subsystem which includes a base station system (BSS) which is of mobile telephony type for communication with mobile terminals, a mobility server to handle the base station system and provide access to at least one public telecommunications system (PSTN) and one private branch exchange (PBX) to provide PBX-functions in the subsystem. The mobile terminals by that will become mobile locally under the private branch exchange. Preferably the mobility server also provides access to at least one public mobile telephone system (PLMN), at which the mobile terminals are also mobile under the public mobile telephone system.

    • This invention relates in general to solutions of application in the DECT system and in particular to a method adapted to monitor the radio environment and adapted furthermore to improve the management of the dummy channel in this type of systems.
      The invention provides that each radio fixed station RFP switches off in sequential manner its own dummy channel in order to check if other neighbouring stations are using the same channel. If this check gives positive result in a generic RFP station, this station will choose, as dummy a channel, a channel not affected by interference which is different from the dummy channels of the neighbouring stations.
      According to the invention, the instant in which the dummy channel is switched off to monitor the radio environment in a generic station is calculated by finding the coincidence between the MultiFrame Number MFN and a parameter derived from the number of radio fixed station RFP named RPN (Radio fixed Part Number).
