    • An image blur prevention system includes a blur detecting circuit for detecting the blurring of an image and outputting a blurring signal corresponding thereto. A determination circuit is also provided in the system for determining, in response to the blurring signal output by the blur detecting circuit, that the image plane is moving because signals from the blurring detecting means do not become zero displacement signals for the predetermined amount of time except in the case of image plane movement, such as panning, thus increasing the responsiveness of the image plane movement operation. The determination means determines, that the movement of the image plane is terminated when the blur displacement of the image intersects a central point of the image blur for a predetermined number of times. The image blur prevention apparatus is thus capable of automatically and reliably shifting from the image plane movement operation to the normal blur correction operation.

    • A solid-state imaging device (42) electronically images at least a portion of an image of a subject formed on a film exposure surface (14) through a photographic optical lens (12). This imaging device (42) is driven at a high speed by an imaging device driver (44) to repeatedly perform electronic imaging of the subject image. An actuator driver (38) drives an actuator (30) in accordance with the detected drift in the x and y directions to move the lens (12) in the x and y directions, thereby correcting the drifts.

    • The present invention provides a novel camera apparatus which can be discretely split into two parts; a lens barrel unit (1) and a lens-barrel-support unit (2) which allows the lens barrel unit to freely turn its direction. A built-in-angular rate detector (12) detects a swinging movement of the lens barrel unit (1), whereas a position detector (11) detects a position relationship between the lens barrel unit and the support unit. An operator unit (23) storing programs controls a drive operation of an actuator (3) that generates a specific amount of torque between the lens barrel unit (1) and the support unit (2) to reduce an output from a system controller unit so that swinging symptom of picture caused by the swinging movement of the camera can be eliminated. In addition to this primary function, the operator unit (23) also executes its secondary function, in which the operator unit first detects intention of a camera operator by identifying a varied position relationship between the lens barrel unit and the support unit when one intentionally changes an aimed direction of the camera and then the operator unit controls the driving of the actuator so that the lens barrel unit (1) can correctly face the aimed direction.
