摘要： A system and method for generating an optical return-to-zero signal. The system includes an electro-optical conversion system. The electro-optical conversion system is configured to receive an input electrical non-return-to-zero signal, process information associated with the input electrical non-return-to-zero signal, and generate a first electrical signal and a second electrical signal based on at least information associated with the input electrical non-return-to-zero signal. Additionally, the electro-optical conversion system is configured to delay a second electrical signal with respect to the first electrical signal by a predetermined period of time, process information associated with the first electrical signal and the delayed second electrical signal, and generate an output optical return-to-zero signal based on at least information associated with the first electrical signal and the delayed second electrical signal. The output optical return-to-zero signal is an optical differential return-to-zero signal, and the output optical return-to-zero signal is substantially free from any frequency chirp.

摘要： An optical transmitter of CS-RZ modulation for further increase the SPM-GVD resistance and an optical fiber transmission system having the same are disclosed. The optical transmitter comprises a carrier source, a data modulating section for intensity-modulating the carrier with a data signal, a clock modulating section for amplitude-modulating the carrier so that the phase of the carrier is inverted for every one-bit slot of the data signal. The optical transmitter is characterized in that the carrier is given a prechirp by the carrier source or the data modulating section.

摘要： RZ (return-to-zero) optical signal with optical carrier component suppressed has optical spectrum bandwidth as half as that of a prior art. An input electrical signal in NRZ (non-return-to-zero) format is first pre-coded to produce a binary pre-coded NRZ signal so that said binary pre-coded NRZ signal is inverted for each one (0 or 1) of the binary values of input NRZ signal. The pre-coded NRZ signal is differentiated to produce ternary-level electrical signal having first level, second level, and third level. The first level corresponds to a rising edge, the third level corresponds to a falling edge, and the second level corresponds to a duration between a rising edge and a falling edge, of a pre-coded NRZ signal. Thus, polarity of the pulse at said rising edge is opposite to that at said falling edge. The differentiated signal drives an optical intensity modulator to produce an optical signal in RZ format in which phase of the optical signal is inverted for each optical marked pulse.
