摘要： Procedure for the preparation of pre-packaged coloured popcorn in the microwave oven. The following ingredients are used basically: coloured corn for popcorn and sugar or fine, table salt, the product being suitable for cooking in a microwave oven and packaged beforehand in a microwave-resistant paper bag with an inner aluminium lining. Aromas shall also be used, on an optional basis. According to the procedure, corn is measured out in the proportion of 70% of the total weight of the product to be packaged. Then the other ingredients, representing 30% of the indicated weight, are added, these latter having been prepared homogeneously beforehand at a controlled temperature of 50-55°C, and the resultant mixture is poured tidily into the paper bag.

摘要： A flexible paper microwave package in the form of an easily expandable, nontrapping bag (18) is disclosed including a bottom wall (20) and a top wall (22) interconnected together adjacent their circular outer peripheries (20a,22a) by first and second interconnecting portions (26a,26b). In one preferred form, the top wall (22) is formed from a first portion (22d) having an oval shaped access opening closed by an oval shaped closure portion (22e) interconnected by a seal (40) to the first portion (22d). The bottom and top walls (20,22) expand into an opposing double domed shape as the food product is being popped, puffed, or expanded in the microwave oven. This domed shape of the bottom wall (22) keeps the food product huddled closer together and enhances the bag (18) to rock so maximize gravimetric separation. The bag (18) provides a serving bowl function when the peelable closure seal (40) has been opened providing access to the interior of the bag (18) and specifically to the popped, puffed or expanded food product located therein. An extension (42) integrally extends from the closure portion (22e) along the major axis of the oval shape. First and second pairs of extensions (54) integrally extend from diametric opposite sides of the bottom and top walls (20,22) and along the major axis of the oval shape. Slits (60,66,74) relieve the constraints of the extensions (54) to creasing and puckering of the bottom and top walls (20,22) as they expand into the opposing double dome shape.

摘要： An improved microwave popcorn package which contains a charge (16) of popcorn kernels for preparation in a microwave oven. The package is formed of multiple microwave transmissive panels joined together to create a cavity (8) in which the kernels are stored and popped. Preferably one of the panels includes a susceptor (11) for heating the kernels, and the kernels are evenly displaced adjacent substantially the entire surface area of the susceptor. An envelope (16) for containing the unpopped kernels is created from additional microwave transmissive material, or from the panels themselves. The strenght of the envelope is sufficent to contain and protect the kernels during shipping and storage, but the envelope will burst when subjected to the internal pressure created by the kernels during the popping process. One of the package panels is also preferably joined to the package with a releasable adhesive that permits the panel (5) to be removed after the popping process to permit access to the kernels. Preferably the envelope is created with the same material that provides the removable panel, and preferably the envelope isolates any oily ingredients from the remainder of the package during the storage period prior to popping.

摘要： A microwave popcorn package (1) has an inner ply (46) and an outer ply (47) of flexible material, such as paper, with a microwave interactive construction (45) therebetween. The plies (46, 47) are bonded together with a laminating adhesive that is applied in a regular pattern of polygonal adhesive areas. This pattern occupies at least 80 square inches (516 cm2) of the surface between the plies (46, 47), and provides no more than 50% adhesive coverage of that area where the pattern is located. The adhesive polygons can be squares or diamonds. A second adhesive pattern can be present in a second portion of the ply surface.

摘要： Corn kernels (32) packaged within an elongate bag (10) can be popped within a microwave oven. The elongate bag (10) is either a lay-down or stand-up bag made from a laminate of two papers (40,42) with a metallized polyester film (30) between the two paper layers (40,42) at a location where the bag (10) will contact the floor of the microwave oven. The bag (10) is provided with a seal (52) across its top end (12) having at least one weakened portion (54) aligned with the gussets of the bag (10), whereby the at least one weakened portion (54) opens and permits vapors to vent from the bag (10) after a predetermined pressure within the bag (10) is reached. A method of preparing the package of corn kernels and an apparatus for sealing the bag filled with corn kernels is also disclosed.
